Fiancée of former Ghanaian international and ex-Black Stars midfielder, Nii Odartey Lamptey, has delivered what could best be described as a “Miracle Baby”; his first biological child, making him a father, for the first time.
The ex-footballer, whose marriage of twenty years, became topical in the media last year, said mother and child- Baby Girl – were doing well.
Mr. Lamptey, made this known when he hurriedly responded to phone call by host of socio-political afternoon programme, ‘Si no pi’ Nana Kwabena Bobie Ansah on BREEZE 90.9 FM yesterday in Accra.
The embattled national star, whose divorce with his wife, Gloria Lamptey is pending in an Accra court, confirmed the news on phone, after failing to make an appearance on the show for an exclusive interview with the station.
The owner of GLOLAMP International School, located in Baastona, Accra, requested Bobie Ansah to exercise patience, as he will find time to come to the studio for a lengthy chat and more revelations.
“Please hold on for me and I will come to the studio. I beg you and talk about everything. Everybody is fine, the child is fine and the mother too is fine”.
He insisted the host gave him some time to prepare for that in-studio “interview” when pressed for details.
In a hearty laughter and excitement, the-not-so-long-ago disturbed ex-sensational footballer, accepted a congratulatory message from Nana Bobie Ansah and assured the listeners that he would be back to talk some more.
Latter part of last year, the Lampteys hit the newsstands following revelation that the two were gearing up at the court to end their twenty-year-old marriage.
Mr. Lamptey, was reported to have found out that three out of his five supposed children – all girls – were not his, but were fathered by a different man or men.
It followed a suspicion he had about his wife. According to media report, a confirmation was made after DNA tests were conducted by Mr. Lamptey on the children. His wife Gloria denied any wrong doing.
She accused Mr. Lamptey of being infertile and alleged that, he advised her to go for artificial insemination. Two of their five , were said to have died.
The likes of Mr. Lamptey’s football colleague, Charles K Akunnor and 25 year-old Ghanaian representative of the Big Brother Africa (BBA) reality show, Elikem Kumordzi, were accused of fathering the children.
The fast rising fashion designer, who wants to be known as ‘Elikem The Tailor’, though admitted knowing Gloria, during his days at the University of Ghana where he studied, he never went to the extent of fathering the children, whose ages were said to be between 19 and 12.
He did not deny having sex with Mr. Lamptey’s wife either, leaving many questions behind.
It is unclear, where Mr. Lamptey, will want a DNA to be conducted to be thoroughly sure that the new baby girl was truly his, having turned down the other girls with Gloria on the basis of a DNA test.
