NPP Youth Exposes Justice Annan

….Over Paul Afoko Lies

By Cecil Mensah

A youth wing of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), has descended heavily on the discreet attempts by Justice Annan, a controversial journalist of HOT FM, an Accra Based radio station, to malign and undermine the campaign of Mr. Paul Afoko.

According to the group, the machinations of the radio presenter, caught their attention last week when he tried to portray one of the leading candidates in the NPP chairmanship race as a drug addict.

A statement jointly signed by Mr Barima Sarpong, the National Coordinator, Tahiru Iddrisu, the Northern Regional representative and Mr Bright Bawuah, the Ashanti Regional representative of the group said, It was important at this point to draw Justice Annan closer to good behavior. As a journalist, Justice Annan must be warned to stop spreading false rumours and exhibit professionalism, even if he naturally lacks it.

We have been hinted of the reason why Justice Annan will engage himself in such shameful commitment of staining a noble man and pre-empting ongoing investigations by our party. Justice Annan, reportedly, had approached Paul Afoko with an offer to defend him in the media against the allegations thrown at him.

Paul Afoko’s reported response to the blackmailer in the cloak of a journalist was that, he, Paul Afoko, is innocent of all the allegations and that any genuine investigations will naturally clear him. This wise rejection of Mr Annan’s offer has left him at large.

The statement said, Mr Annan, a disappointed National Democratic Congress (NDC) journalist who once served as Special Assistant to Dr Spio Gabrah, a leading member of the NDC and also worked with the National Security as an undercover journalist, cannot be seen advising the party. As youth of NPP, we cannot afford to sit unconcerned and watch the NDC and their rented journalist set an agenda for NPP. Justice Annan is free to use his platform to promote his party, NDC, but we warn him to desist from maliciously maligning Paul Afoko.

The statement called on the noble management of Hot Fm and the National Media Commission to call Justice Annan to order for disgracing a rather noble radio station like Hot FM.

“Justice Annan is clearly betraying the professionalism in journalism, the integrity of Hot Fm, and his own dingy dignity.
“We, the youth of NPP, will surely advise ourselves and rightly so, if Justice Annan does not act right.

Justice Annan must come to know why he must ensure commitment to fairness, integrity and sincerity in doing his job.’’
