NPP Sam Pyne Gets Butcher’s Job From Gov’t

…..Entitled To Weekly Meat & GH¢200 Monthly Allowance

Credible information picked up by The Herald indicates that, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Pyne, is not happy with his appointment as a board member of the Kumasi Abattoir, where most of the region’s meats are sold.

Mr. Pyne, who was appointed with one Akwasi Kyei, for the Kumasi-Mayanka Abattoir, is only entitled to a monthly allowance of GH¢200, as well as weekly meant from the butchers.

But the regional secretary, who is also a communicator of the party, is reportedly outraged about the appointment as he sees it as a very big insult to his person, having served and campaigned tirelessly for the NPP to come to power.

For many years, he has been trekking Kumasi-Accra-Kumasi weekly to speak for the NPP and bashing the Mahama government, until the NPP won power last year.

He has since been defending the Akufo-Addo government tirelessly without any appointment until recently.

According to this paper’s sources, the Ashanti Regional Secretary, is not the only one who is angry at the appointment, many, including NPP foot soldiers, are fuming with anger, wondering why Mr. Pyne, who has worked and continue to work for the party, could be treated this shabbily, when people including family and friends of President Nana Akufo-Addo, who hardly worked while the party was in opposition, are busily enjoying with both hands.

The question on the lips of many is why President Akufo-Addo, will appoint a good number of his family members, including his daughter, cousins, girlfriends, in-laws and so on to juicy positions, but will reward the likes of Sam Pyne with a butcher’s job.

They also cited Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Mafo, whose two sons, have juicy appointments at SSNIT and National Communication Authority (NCA).

The abattoir appointment came as appeasement from former Defence Minister, Kwame Addo Kufuor, who doubles as the board chairman of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) where the abattoir falls under.

He is said to have rewarded Mr. Pyne with the appointment after agitation from certain quarters of the party in the region over his snub, became intense.

It is not clear how, his appointment leaked in to the media, because Mr. Pyne, received the appointment letter months ago, but hid it until recently perhaps because of it embarrassing nature.

According to Kumasi-based Ultimate FM’s reporter Isaac Bediako, who spoke to an insider, he had this to say, “Isaac, I can tell you that Sam is not happy with this abattoir board member appointment, he accepted it because of the respect he has for his boss, Dr. Addo-Kuffuor”.

“You know the contribution of Sam in NPP’s election 2016 victory right? Yet his loyalty and hard work has not been recognized by the appointing authority. This appointment according to Dr. Kwame Addo-Kufuor is just to keep him active, can you imagine that,’’ he asked.

Ultimate FM’s further checks revealed that, the two board members of the Kumasi Abattoir are entitled to 200 Ghana Cedis (GHC200) allowance per each sitting.  Again, they are also entitled to a weekly package of meat from the Kumasi abattoir.

The Herald is unaware of Sam Pyne’s colleague board member Akwasi Kyei and his contribution to the NPP’s victory.
