National Security Advisor, Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah (Rtd), has accused the opposition New Patriotic Party of being behind the ongoing strikes and labour unrests that have dogged the nation in recent times.
General Nunoo-Mensah insists he has had enough experience, working with the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and other international intelligence agencies to declare on authority, that the NPP were behind the industrial actions in a desperate bid to win political power.
“I have enough experience, working with CIA and other intelligence agencies, to say that NPP is behind these things,” he declared on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show of Tuesday October 22, 2013.
“I’m experienced enough to know that these are politically motivated demonstrations. They are hiding behind others, like the Trojan horse, to destroy the nation.
“If it’s not political, why is it that NPP people are insulting me? Nana Akomea and others. I know this is part of the political struggle.
“I know everybody in NPP. In 1996 I stood on NPP ticket, if you don’t know, so I know everybody there. They are the ones behind it.
In a sharp reaction however, Nana Akomea, who is the immediate past Communications Director of the NPP, has advised the former Chief of Defence Staff to “stop insulting” the striking workers.
Also speaking on Dwaso Nsem, said General Nunoo Mensah “who we all respect, should stop speaking about the matter. If you are in a hole, you should stop digging.
“He is making his case worse. It is a huge insult to all the doctors, nurses and others, that they don’t have a mind of their own and they need the NPP to come and tell them they are suffering. That is a huge insult.”
