His Excellency President John Mahama who is in the UK on the invitation of the British Prime Minister, David Cameron to attend an anti-corruption summit, used the opportunity to showcase the anti-corruption strategies his government has undertaken so far.
We the NDC UK and Ireland Chapter believe that President Mahama was invited to the summit because of his willingness and eager to fight corruption in Ghana and the practical steps he has taken to achieve these objectives. This is evident in the 2015 Corruption Perception Index published by Transparency International. Ghana has scored the highest marks on the Corruption Perception Index over the past 3 years. It is interesting to note that Ghana is ranked 56th in the world, ahead of Ivory Coast (107th), Nigeria (136th ), South Africa, Senegal & Italy (61st ), and Kenya (139th) on the world ranking.
It is against this background that members of UK and Ireland Chapter wish to commend His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for his efforts and achievements in fighting corruption which have been recognised by the international community.
