Vintage Journalist and news anchor at GhOne Television, Nana Aba Anamoah, has slammed the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his intervention in the decision of Asamoah Gyan retiring from playing for the senior National team.
In her opinion, there are many and pressing economic issues the President should be focusing on .
In a social media post, the tramadol documentary maker, questioned the President involvement in the Asamoah Gyan saga, because for her ,it has no economic value on his administration.
Earlier this week, the captain of the senior national team, Asamoah Gyan, announced his retirement from National assignment, citing a number of reasons, including the fact that he cannot be part of a team and the captain given to another player when he knows he is the captain.
The announcement went viral and generated a number of discussions on many platforms including traditional and social media.
President Akufo-Addo, however, stepped in a made a phone call to Asamoah Gyan, asking him to rescind his decision in a statement that was released by his Communication Director at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin.
Following that call from the President, Asamoah Gyan, has since issued another statement to rescind his earlier decision.
But according to Nana Aba Anamoah, who herself is an ardent sports fan ,the President should focus on other valuable economic matters.
“We appreciate the President’s intervention but can he intervene for the many young men and women who have no idea where their next meal will come from”?, she asked.
In view of homelessness of Ghanaians, she further asked:”Can the president intervene for homeless Ghanaians?”.
“Asamoah Gyan’s decision has no impact on economic growth”, she added.
