The lead communications company in the country, MTN, in its efforts to enlighten the players in the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) on the importance of integrating their activities with Information Communications Technology (ICT), has held the second edition of SME Business Fair in the Ashanti region.
The SME business forum, an initiative which was introduced last year, is aimed at introducing ICT into the operations of SMEs to enhance growth in the sector.
This year’s fair which was themed “ Accelerating SMEs Growth, with Smart ICT Solutions and Partnership’’ had experts from information communications and technology, financial sector and other industries, to share ideas with the participants on how to explore the ICT revolution to expand their business.
The Senior Manager, Business Sales and ICT solutions MTN Ghana, Mohammed Abubakari Sidick , speaking to The Herald on the sideline of the fair, explained that MTN, as the lead communication set up in the country, decided to come out with solution that speaks the language of the SMEs to enable them to expand and grow exponentially.
“The solution to serve ICT needs of the SMEs to drive modern business has remained one of the critical mandates of our company,’’ he said.
According to him, among some of the ICT solutions MTN, has come out to help SMEs to maximize profits, include equipment tracking system and cloud services which gives clear accessibility of the internet services.
The Northern District Business Manager MTN, Mr. James Basintale , in his address to open the two days fair, noted that the operations of the SMEs, has become a major mover of economic growth, therefore it was imperative to integrate the application of technology in the SMEs to sustain the sector.
“Technology , without doubt creates room for the SMEs to be in pole position to become more efficient ,competitive and very relevant to our customers’ desire to get huge turn over’’ he noted.
He explained that the new cloud service offers a one stop shop with a comprehensive range of ICT related business services to meet business growing needs. .
Mr. Basintale said, MTN, as a corporate entity was committed to expanding its revolution to offer unlimited chances for the growth of both individuals and SMEs.
He revealed that, MTN since obtaining the 4G LTE license in December last year, the company was able to extend coverage to all the ten regions.
The Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions’ chairperson of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Madam Akua Gyamfuah, indicated the readiness of industries to partner with other corporate organizations to create a congenial atmosphere for businesses to thrive.
She pointed out the needs for all to embrace the dynamism of ICT to sustain development across all sectors.
