The people of Ada celebrated the Asafotufiami amidst pomp and pageantry, which saw the display of the rich culture and heritage last Saturday. As telecommunication sponsors of this year’s Asafotufiami festival, MTN provided the over thousand patrons who had traveled from far and near to celebrate and have fun with the people of Ada, various entertainment activities.
MTN supported the organization of a royal walk through the principal streets of Ada, led by the paramount chief Nene Kabu Abram Akuaku III. Leading the crowd in his MTN T Shirt, the Paramount chief took to the principal streets of Ada, walking for about an hour and half with jubilant walkers, dancing amidst brass band music. The walk ended at the Presby School Park with a health screening which gave participants the opportunity to check their blood pressure, body mass index, height and HIV status.
Next on the bill were entertainment events dubbed MTN chill zones held at different locations in Ada, including Rubstone club at Ada Foah where performance by Stoneboy, a seasoned dancehall artist, kept quests on their feet all night long. The winner of the maiden edition of MTN Hitmaker Naterial and Wulomei were at ‘MTN village’ set up at Kemat Hotel.
Prior to the festival celebration, MTN made a donation to the Ada Traditional Council to support its activities. MTN presented items comprising a cheque of GHC5, 000.00, MTN recharge vouchers worth GH¢1, 000.00 cedis, a drink hamper and MTN souvenirs. The items were received by the Ada Traditional council and members of the planning committee for the festival.
Presenting the items to the chiefs and elders of Ada, Mr Adjei-Sah Senior Manager, Eastern and Southern Business District of MTN expressed his excitement about the relationship that existed between the people of Ada and MTN. Healso indicated that,plans were far advanced to provide permanent access to 3G services in Ada and its environs to enable them enjoy MTN’s high speed internet services.
Stool Father, Nene Laweh on behalf of Ada Traditional Council thanked MTN for the donation. He expressed his profound appreciation to MTN for the long standing support towards celebrations of Asafotufiami festival for the past six years.
