The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Morton City Real Estates Company limited, Mr. Nii Noi Morton, on Tuesday February 16,2016, narrowly escaped an assassination attempt, when some unidentified armed men broke into his Dansoman office in the Greater Accra Region.
The incident happened in the late hours of the night, when the unidentified armed men entered his office with a hammer, pinch bar and other weapons with the intension to attack him.
The armed men frustrated by Mr. Morton’s absence, scattered items in the office and left without taking any valuable in the office.
But as destiny would have it, they could not execute their evil agenda, because Mr. Morton, had stepped out before the attackers entered.
Although, the police are yet to make any arrest, reports has it that the men scaled the wall into the compound of the office building, where they crashed the backdoor and entered the office.
Speaking to The Herald after the incident, the C.E.O of the real estate, believes the intruders were sent to kill him, since he normally leaves the office very late at night.
“Some negative forces have conspired to physically assault and kill me, “he told this paper.
On who he suspects are behind the attack, he says, he has given that information to the police to aid in their investigations.
Mr. Morton, has officially lodged a complaint at the Dansoman Divisional Police station for the Police to look into the matter.
When this reporter got to the scene, officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, were on duty conducting their initial investigations and taking fingerprints at the scene.
A police source indicated to this paper that, initial investigation pointed to the fact that the robbers took nothing from the office with the exception of a mobile phone.
The police are yet to official comment on the incident.
But some residents in the area who spoke to this paper, expressed worry about the current spate of contract killings that is gradually gaining roots in the country.
Neighbors of Mr. Morton are at a loss as to why an individual or a group of evil minded people, would want to eliminate a man, they described as a good man.
They stated that it was the responsibility of the security agencies to ensure the safety of all its citizens and their property and therefore appealed to the Police to commence a speedy investigation to bring the perpetrators of the crime to face the full rigors of the law.
