The youth in the Upper West region, has demanded an unqualified apology from the Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Mr. Bernard Mornah, for the disrespect he showed to the choice of the people in the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency.
According to them, Alban Bagbin, is their representative and as electorate of the Nadowli- Kaleo they have no intentions whatsoever,to change the hard working Majority Leader of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking in an interview with the media in Wa, the regional capital, Spokesperson for the youth, Hafiz Sumaila; wondered why Mr. Bernard Mornah, after unsuccessful attempts at winning the Wa Central seat would now turn his attention to Nadowli-Kaleo.
“We are not against Mr. Mornah for nurturing ambitions to get into Parliament, but we are satisfied with the leadership of Mr. Bagbin and will at no point allow Mr. Mornah to win the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency,” the youth said.
According to the youth, they have followed with keen interest how the current MP has positioned the Constituency and the Upper West region on the political map of Ghana and are privileged to have him as MP.
The Constituency has seen unprecedented development through the leadership of Bagbin and ‘we shall give him another opportunity to enhance his record and sustain the development agenda of the Government in the Constituency and the region”
The youth noted that as Majority Leader, Mr. Bagbin has distinguished himself as a unifier who is highly respected by both the Majority and Minority sides in Parliament which is an honor to the region.
The MP has dutifully served not only the people of the Upper West region but also the nation Ghana as the leader of Government Business in the House.
The youth believed that even the members of the NPP in Parliament would have loved to come to Nadowli Constituency to vote for Mr. Bagbin come November 7.
It therefore makes no sense for the Constituency to substitute one of the most prominent politicians to have come from the Upper West Region after the late Dr. Hilla Limann for an overly ambitious young man.
“For Mr. Bernard Mornah to state that Bagbin, has outlived his usefulness in the area is an attempt to discredit the experienced legislator.
We wish to advise him to learn from the experiences of the mature democracies in the world about the value of experienced MPs for those countries’’.
If it is an attempt to malign and dishonor the Majority leader, it will be an exercise in futility, as the youth of Upper West will not put the future of their people in the hands of a wavering politician like Mr. Monarh the youth vowed.
According to the youth, Nadowli-Kaleo has gained national and international prominence due to the leadership of Bagbin.
The empowerment of the youth in the region is not only in Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency, but in the whole of Upper West.
The National Youth Authority (NYA) in recognition of this achievement honored the MP for his quest to empower the youth in the region.
“The exemplary leadership of Alban Bagbin as Majority Leader is a great pride to the region and it will be unthinkable for the people of the
Constituency to unseat him for any untested and opportunistic politician.
We still stand solidly behind Bagbin and will elect him again to Parliament” The group stated.
