Minority Diagnoses Akufo-Addo’s Economy Today


Ahead Of Wednesday Budget

The Minority in Parliament is holding a roundtable discussion today, ahead of the 2018 budget reading.

The Minority led by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Tamale North, Haruna Iddrisu, say, today’s programme, will be centred on the “2018 Budget and Economic Outlook” to be presented by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta on Wednesday.

Haruna Iddrisu, who will be backed by his colleague NDC legislators, is leading the discussion with former Deputy Minister of Finance under the erstwhile John Mahama government and the Ranking Member for the Finance Committee in Parliament, Cassiel Ato Forson.

Also billed to talk is MP for Bolga, Isaac Adongo, who has been a thorn in the flesh of the government, especially the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

The D.F Annan Auditorium in the Job 600 building, will host the programme at 10am sharp.

Invitation has been sent out to the Trades Union Congress (TUC), Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), Association of Ghana Industries ( AGI), GPARI, GUTA, GPRTU, IFS and Members of the Academia.

The programme, would be live on various Radio and TV Stations and also live via Facebook Live.

The Finance Minister, will appear before Parliament to present the Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the Akufo-Addo government for the year ending December 31, 2018 on Wednesday, November 15, 2017.

It is a requirement that every year, the sector Minister, appears before the law makers to update them and the nation, on government’s expenditure and financial obligations for the coming year.

The first budget statement delivered, since assuming power by Mr. Ofori-Atta, was on March 2, 2017.
