The management of Melcom Group of Companies, has supported the organizers of the 2013 /2014 of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) with electronic gadgets for the awards slated for Saturday August 30, 2014, to be held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra and a cheque, to cover the additional award cost in the categories sponsored by the company.
Presenting the electronic gadgets for the category of Development Journalism and Material Nutrition, Mr Godwin Avenorgbo, the Director of Communications for Melcom Group of companies, said the presentation of the Akai 42′ LED Digital TV and Hitachi 42′ LED Digital TV, is the response to the appeal by the GJA.
I am happy to announce that Melcom, has considered the appeal and is willing to discuss further details of the sponsorship package for the association’s package, he said.
According to him, the company products, which are made up of Crown Star Electronics, Melcom Travel and Tours, as well as Century Industries, have the potential to create more jobs for the youth, as part of the goals to mark this year’s silver jubilee anniversary of the company.
He said another goal of the company is to assist the needy and institutions both public and private which support humanitarian activities in the country.
He noted that the sponsorship support for the association and its ninth awards is targeted at information sharing efforts on the leadership and people in the Districts and Regions to bridge the development gap.
He maintained that the company wants to associate with the award on the Maternal Nutrition, because it believed that the first tutorials in the field are the beginning of life.
Accepting the items, Mr Affrail Roland Monney , the President of GJA, thanked the company for gesture and challenged journalists to venture into the field of rural and development journalism.
