…Police Identifies Him As Ex-Convict.
From Edmund Kudzordzi, Akatsi
Fear griped the people of Akatsi and its environs as security issues, coupled with armed robbery, has become rampant in the Akatsi South District of the Volta Region.
The Herald’s scouts, have gathered that, on Wednesday, June 18, at about 11am after a heavy downpour, a man only identified as Sumaila, was found lying unconsciously in a gutter around Gadzekpo, near Akatsi with multiple cutlass wound.
On-lockers, who were first at the scene, sympathised with the victim for the degree of cutlass wounds inflicted on him. Some even wished they could avenge whosoever was behind the barbaric act.
Surprisingly, however, the Akatsi District Police, who later came to the scene upon receiving the information, have identified Sumaila (victim) as an ex-convict, who had returned from the Ho Prisons not quite too long ago, for his criminal acts.
A confirmation by the Akatsi District Police had suggested that Sumaila was butchered in another robbery operation when luck eluded him.
He had sustained a deep cutlass wound on his head, amongst other places.
Meanwhile, the Herald can confirm that Sumaila is currently receiving medical treatment at the District Hospital at Akatsi-Kpotame, under the watch of Julius Dzeble, a detective at the Akatsi District Police Command.
On-lockers, however, lamented at the rate at which insecurity and crime is rapidly growing in the Akatsi South District.
They are appealing to the Mahama-led NDC to do something about their plight before a night of doom befall them.
