The Chief of La Abese Adonten, Nii Kwade Okropong I, a successful entrepreneur and a philanthropist, has advised the youth in the country, especially University graduates to make entrepreneurship their top-most priority.
This he said, would help them better their lives and also create employment for themselves.
He gave the advice at the sideline of the annual durbar and installation of Legon Ga Mantse by the Ga Dangme Students’ Association of the University of Ghana, Legon at the Akuafo Gardens in Accra.
He called on the youth, especially University students to have the mindset of job creators, rather than job seekers.
This he said, would help end high unemployment rate in the country, as well as help the growth of the economy.
He stated that, if the youth in the country engage themselves into viable business ventures, the current level of economy will be a thing of the past.
He urged the youth to say no to white color job options, rather follow their dreams and contribute to the wave of entrepreneurship policies by government and individuals.
“I was at a restaurant in South Africa and i heard two youth men who are in the final year and were discussing how to get a white color job after completing their University Education, this is not the way forward for Africa” he noted.
This he called on the youth to identify their unique skill, nurture it and put it into action adding that Well-planned and good implementation will give them the needed results to achieve their goals.
According to him, with the current economic situation in Ghana, government alone cannot create employment for every Ghanaian hence the need for the youth to find something productive to earn a living.
The La Abese Adonten Mantse, further called on the government to strengthen policies of entrepreneurial activities to help establish friendly environment that will improve growth of business and self-employment creation.
