The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Madina Constituency, in the Greater Accra region (GAR), Alhaji Boniface AbubakarSaddique, has asked the electorate of the Constituency to unite to retire the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Alhaji Amadu Sorogho in this year’s parliamentary election.
Alhaji Abubakar, made this comment when he joined the party’s coordinators at Danfa near Oyarifa in the La Nkwantanan Municipal Assembly (LaMA) to embark on a house –to- house campaign.
Alhaji Abubakar, embarked on the exercise after his usual Friday Moslems prayers at Adoteiman in the municipality.
Speaking to The Herald, he said the strategy to unseat the MP, required that, the electorate who affected by the issues of under development of the area, unite.
He noted that the assertion by the MP that he needs another chance to correct the wrongs he had committed, should be totally ignored, since he has had three consecutive chances to serve as an MP for the area, but failed woefully to make any positive impart, due to his incompetence, intolerance, insensitivity, ignorant for the needs of the people and mismanagement.
If he had failed to use 12 years to bring development to Madina, what can he do with the next four years to come.
“His time is up and we must retire him. I am aware of all the manipulations and machinations he engaged in before and during elections in the Constituency and we will stop him this time”.
He said, the mission was about Madina and not about personalities, as well as the interest of the electorate of area.
He added that, Madina was one of the fastest growing municipalities in the country, but it has no proper hospital, yet leadership pride themselves as working for the people.
He added that, the agenda to unseat the MP was not about the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) or the opposition NPP, but the interest of the vast majority of the electorate, who are disenchanted about the modus operandi of the current MP.
He further urged the NPP supporters to also widen their house to house campaigns and reach out to a large number of disgruntled and disappointed members of theNDC in the Constituency to help expand the vote margins in favor of the NPP in both the presidential and the parliamentary elections.
He said, though the Madina Constituency has never been won by the NPP since the restoration of multi-party democracy in 1992, he believed that with the current level of unity prevailing amongst members, delegates and executives of the party, coupled with his strong message of “Mission Madina”
the Constituency will fall to the NPP this year.
He was convinced the electorate in the Constituency, would do him the honour by voting for him to become its Member of Parliament in 2017.
He said, the stealing of votes, exchange of ballot boxes, and papers in the Constituency, would stop this year.
“His own people have ignored him because of his character and we will join forces to retire him this year, “he added
He said, “We will win Madina this year and retire Amadu Sorogho”.
“I want to assure Nana Akufo-Addo, Ghana’s President-in-waiting, that his vote share in Madina will increase.
Akufo-Addo, will win in Madina, Boniface, will also win in Madina”
