As part of measures to and in line with president Akufo-Addo’s aim of resourcing the University of Ghana and the Ghana Police to tighten security and eliminate the mounting security challenges on the university campus, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogom, Lydia Alhassan, made a donation of a car and two motor bikes to the University.
The purpose is to aid the University in conjunction with Ghana Police to increase visibility of security and enhanced security patrols on campus.
I was accompanied by Henry Nana Boakye(National Youth Organizer) and some Executives from Ayawaso West Wuogon.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Prof. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu together with some key members of the University administration were present to receive the donation on behalf of the University. He acknowledged the contributions of the government to the sustained growth of the university and called for more of such interventions.
The representatives of the students, Isaac Agyeman and Christian Atadika expressed gratitude for what they described as a timely intervention and pledged their readiness to work with me for the betterment of students welfare on campus. I on my part, expressed my further support and commitment to avail myself in whatever way I can to enhance teaching and learning in an atmosphere of peace and calm.
I followed up with a visit to the affected student Mr. Daniel Osei at the 37 Military Hospital.
