The Muslim community at Sukura, a suburb of Ablekuma Central constituency, has hailed the effort by the Director of Operations at the seat of government – jubilee house, Accra; Lord Commey, for what they describe as “still keeping in touch with the community”.
The chiefs and people of Ablekuma Central, made this known when they converged at Losso Park, (Sukura) during this year’s celebration of Eid fitr, – a festive seasons that climax the thirty days fasting by Muslims across the globe, as they make merry and also pray for Allah’s blessings.
The 2018 Eid fitr prayers at Sukura was held on the newly constructed Astro turf park, constructed by Ghana’s first and market leaders in the construction and management of artificial football parks, Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited ( WSCCL) .
This Astro turf park attracted many Muslims living at Sahara, Dansoman, first light and Dakoman junction, who hitherto, would have gone to pray at the black star square or the Abosookai mosque.
Lord Commey, who led the ground breaking three( 3) months ago for the construction of what he then described as a super super Wembley Park, didn’t mince words, when contacted for his reaction about the facility.“… I am excited that today, the people of Sukura can also have for themselves a world class pitch with other amenities like 500 seater spectator stand, changing rooms and washroom, proper drainage system, a conference hall, a gym and flood light which will be useful in many ways to the community and the whole of Ablekuma Central Constituency.
When our Muslim brothers and sisters can pray in a well-polished standard environment, I see no reason why I shouldn’t be happy as an indigene of this community; you know what, this falls in line with the vision of His Excellency President Nana Akufo Addo of developing our Zongos and inner cities.”
Member of Parliament (MP) for the area,. Ebenezer Nartey, assured the Muslims gathered that, a year by this time, their other Park (Town Council Park) would have also receive such a face lift, as they free the community of dust anytime events are to be organised on the park.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Webley Sports Construction Company limited, Robert Coleman, who spoke to the media after the prayers expressed his appreciation to the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo Addo and the ministry of Zongo and Inner City Development for picking into reality the vision of WSCCL, thus One Constituency, One Astro Turf Football Park, which WSCCL is soon yet to hand over to government has three operational sites – walewale Zongo,( Northern Region) Madina Zongo ( Greater Accra Region ) and Kyebi Zongo( Eastern Region).
The company is also constructing same for other cooperate institutions and individuals at Labadi, East Legon and Okponglo all in Accra.
Wembley Sports Construction Company Limited two years ago, constructed Ghana’s biggest Astro turf football park for the Accra Academy School which was sponsored by Captain of the senior national team, black stars, Asamoah Gyan.
