It is rare that we get to hear people pay tribute to the living as it has become associated with the dead.
Well, multiple award-winning musician, Kwabena Kwabena, broke the rules again by paying glowing gratitude to the several producers he has worked with so far in his music career.
Speaking to Doreen Andoh on Joy FM’s Cosmopolitan Mix, Tuesday, June 14, he said he was grateful for their influence and the impact they have had in his career.
The ‘Adult Music’ singer disclosed that after writing the lyrics to his songs he passes it on to the “abled producers he has worked with over the years” to do the rest.
He said music producer Martin Kofi Mawutor aka Martin With the Keys whom he works with since the beginning of his career especially plays an important role on what his songs finally become.
“He understands where I am coming from musically and has played a 70 percent role of what Kwabena Kwabena has become,” he disclosed.
He said he has intermittently worked with several producers including Kaywa, Wallace, Hammer, Appietus and several others to produce his hits.
Explaining how the different producers have influenced him, he stated, “I must admit Hammer made me learn to ‘jerk on beats’ that is to sing like a rapper and to understand to rhyme in music.”
He said working with Martin, another producer, gave him the opportunity to learn the rudiments of music; singing in the right pitch and tone, while Appietus and Kaywa gave him the knack to master singing highlife grooves.
Kwabena Kwabena says Kwame Yeboah magical musical touch is the icing on the cake for him as they are “producing the highlife music of the future” together.
Giving a sneak peek of his latest album with Kwame Yebaoah, he said they are fusing years of highlife generations on one album.
He plans to launch it right after his Save A Heart concert later this year.
