The National Democratic Congress (NDC), from July 7 to 9, 2016, joined Progressive Forces worldwide at an Extraordinary Congress of the POLISARIO Front of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic to elect a new Leader in the wake of the passing away of the former Leader, Mohammed Abdelaziz.
The Deputy General Secretary in-charge of Operations, Koku Anyidoho, represented the NDC at the Congress, which took place at the Dakhla Refugee Camp in the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic.
Also present at the congress, was, H.E Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of Algeria.
Progressive Forces that attended the Congress included Groups from, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Algeria, Mauritania, Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Sweden, Namibia, Chile, Angola.
The People of Western Sahara, are still seeking full independence and autonomy from Morocco.
The NDC, is a committed member of the Socialist International (SI), and also continues to be a member of Progressive Forces worldwide.
