…As Allotey Jacob Committee Decides His Fate
National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman for Awutu-Senya East, Alhaji Habib Dramani, who slapped the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kasoa, Dr. Adams Nuhu, has put himself in serious trouble.
The Herald, can confirm that, the battered MCE has officially written a complaint to the regional executives of the party, led by Benard Allotey Jacob, informing them about the brutal assault he suffered during the last regional delegate’s congress in Cape Coast, asking them to do something about the issue.
The Herald, also gathered that the NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, popularly called “General Mosquito”, has also been served with a copy of the complaint filed by Dr. Nuhu.
The regional executives immediately after receiving the MCE’s complaint last week, set up a committee to speedily look into the matter, in order to decide the fate of Alhaji Habib, popularly called “Chairman One”.
Meanwhile, inside the Awutu-Senya East Constituency itself, angry branch chairmen numbering about 126, are said to be currently moving round, collecting signatories to demand drastic disciplinary actions against the embattled Chairman and possibly his resignation.
The Constituency Propaganda Secretary and Special Aide to the MCE, Amadu Tuariq M.S, confirmed the information to The Herald and said, he personally sent the report to the regional secretariat.
The Herald is informed that, Alhaji Habib, upon a second thought is showing remorse over the act.
The incident, which has become like a nightmare for him, is already said to be affecting his businesses, and he is also being shunned, politically.
Alhaji Habib, is the owner and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bano Oil filling stations, spread across Kasoa, and other localities, but unfortunately his business is struggling and gradually grinding to a halt.
The Regional Chairman, Allotey Jacob, had already sent a strong indication that he would not “tolerate this kind of nonsense in the party”.
Mr. Allotey Jacob , who was the Communication Director for the NDC in the Central Region, while speaking on Accra-based Peace FM morning programme ‘Kokrokoo’ on the issue said: “he [Habib Dramani] will face the full riguors of the law in the NDC”, adding “I will not tolerate this kind of nonsense in the party.”
“…There should be discipline in the party…his [Alhaji Habib’s] punishment will be a deterrent to all…We will let the law also slap him”.
Dr. Nuhu, himself told The Herald that “the only crime I committed was to offer my support and technical advice to the current chairman, who won massively over the incumbent.”
The MCE narrated that, the incident occurred when he attempted to shake hand with the chairman who was then in a company of some defeated aspirants after the elections.
Dr. Nuhu said, when he got to him, the chairman raised his hands and gave him three hefty slaps.
This paper, is reliably informed that, the brutal attack on the MCE by his party Chairman was not a mere incident, but a planned attack to provoke Dr. Nuhu to react, which would have led to his dismissal.
Prior to the attack, The Herald, had chanced upon a certain scathing letter by some individuals against the MCE, accusing him of many things.
The letter, which contained lots of vulgar language, was indicated to have been copied to the central regional minister, local government minister, President, Central Regional House of Chiefs and others, but it was only found in the media as none of those mentioned have received it.
This paper learnt the source of the letter is under investigation by the Kasoa police. It is unclear what security arrangement will be put to keep the MCE protected. Until then, the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) Chairman, goes about his official duties without any security, let alone his resident.
More to Come!
