There has been a lot of talk about the cast of Friends reuniting since the show came to an end in 2004, and Jennifer Aniston has become the latest cast member to give her verdict on whether Rachel, Monica, Chandler, Joey, Ross and Phoebe should make a comeback.
Revealing that she would like to resurrect her character, Jennifer who has since moved into movies, spoke at the Television Academy’s event for An Evening Honoring James Burrows, saying:
“I’d honestly go back to it if we could, I would”. However, as much as she would like to return to the show, she also mused: “I don’t think people would want to see us today.”
Whilst fans across the world fell in love with Jennifer and her character on the show, the actress recently admitted that she very nearly didn’t join the cast.
Revealing that she was asked to sit out of the cast photos because she was filming another pilot at the time, Jennifer said at the event: “I had to sit out when we were doing our cast photos”.
Recalling the time she was asked who she was, Jennifer continued: “‘Who are you? What’s your story?’ And I said, ‘Well, I’m doing a bunch of pilots and this is just my sixth pilot and I’m just hoping that it goes.’ And he said, ‘But you’re on another show’ and I said, ‘Yeah.’ And he said, ‘You know they’re going to pick that show up just to try to mess with Friends because this is going to be a great show.’ And I was like,
‘No. They would never do that.’ And sure enough I remember we were at the upfronts and they literally came out with the announcement that they picked us up for three episodes.”
“When we were shooting the first grouping of cast photos [of Friends] in front of that fountain, I was asked to step out of a bunch because they didn’t know if I was going to be still playing Rachel,” she added.
Meanwhile, Jennifer isn’t the only one who would like to return to the heyday of the hit sit-com after Matthew Perry recently admitted that he would love to play Chandler Bing again.
Appearing on Piers’ Morgan’s Tonight show, which saw him take over as host, the actor admitted: “If I had a time machine, I would like to go back to 2004 and not have stopped.”
Feeling the same way, Lisa who played Phoebe Buffay in the hit show, and was on the show as a guest agreed with Matthew saying: “If it were up to us, you know, individually, then yes. I would keep going. I figure…there would have come a time, anyway, when someone would have said,
‘We’ve had enough.’ But, why not have fun until they do.”
“We had a lot of fun”, Lisa added.
