Is The Minister Of Information A Square Peg In A Round Hole?

People questioned his competence, when his name came up, for the position of the Minister of Information, but as our leaders have been doing in the past, by putting square pegs in round holes, many also presumed that, he was going to ride the storm and disgrace his critics.

Unfortunately, the situation keeps getting worse each passing day. President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has been so generous to his appointees. To make their work easy, he has asked each one of them to have a special assistant. Call it jobs for the boys, but I will call it, making sure that, before the minister comes out to either make a statement or issue a press release, every I will be dotted and T crossed.

Information is very critical in a multi-party democracy. The ability of the people to make informed choices is based on the information available to them.

Since the inception of this administration, the practice of issuing statements with wrong dates has almost been raised to an art form and it is beginning to look like a pattern.

After the gas explosion disaster that rocked the people living in Madina and its environs, the Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid, in conforming to his mandate, issued a statement to inform Ghanaians, about what might have occasioned the explosion, what the security services are doing, what government is doing to assuage the pains of the afflicted etc.

This statement is not rocket science, because of the system we live in, a disaster of this nature, has always been with us. In fact, this is not the first time, this year this is happening.

Once again, characteristics of the minister, who is abusing incompetence, he failed to properly date the statement.

A statement that was issued on Sunday, October 8, was dated August 20, 2017. The question on the lips and minds of right-thinking Ghanaians is, was the disaster planned ahead of time, how can the minister issue a statement on August 20, 2017 on a disaster that happened on October 7, 2017?

The minister, has three deputies, all his deputies, including himself, have special assistants, so what could possibly be the problem?

When president Akufo-Addo, appointed 110 ministers and deputies, well-thinking Ghanaians questioned the motive behind such an elephant size government. The same Mustapha Hamid, who is abusing incompetence, came to tell Ghanaians that, the end justifies the means.

As Mustapha Hamid makes frantic moves to arrogate to himself, incompetent general, I wish to caution him that,

Mustapha Hamdi, cuts a sorry picture of a self-propelled fugitive who allowed his vanity, hubris and ego to dismantle him.

He is no more the loud, noisome, boastful stage actor during the campaign period, when he was the spokesperson for Nana Akufo-Addo.

He lost his swagger as he looked drained out of the moment when Nana Akufo-Addo, won the 2016 presidential polls. He was appointed as the spokesperson for the NPP’s side of the transitional team, his incompetence was quickly noticed and was ordered to hand over to Kojo oppong Nkrumah, who has fortunately become his deputy, ostensibly to stop him in his tracks from goofing and disgracing the government.

Mustapha Hamid, in the run up to the 2016 elections, variously branded former President John Dramani Mahama as incompetent and corrupt.

He further during a press conference, where he argued so laughably that the former President and his younger brother, Ibrahim Mahama of attempting to bribe the Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bugri Naabu with cars and money.

He actually cried during the press conference maybe that was what got him the job, which he is incompetently displaying. Musta is running away from his shadows. He is being chased by his hubris, the past is catching up on him.

Karma, they say is a bitch, what goes around comes around. Former president Mahama, was paraded, humiliated, and called incompetent. A word that, now personifies the NPP government.

Soon Mustapha Hamid, will pray that this cup should pass him by, but the cup will stubbornly stuck to him, because he deserves it.

He is faced with a problem that has just refused to back off, even with the three deputies and special assistants, a number we cannot put a number to.

Mustapha Hamid, has increased his appetite for jokes and clowning, and he is visiting it on the good people of this country on a daily basis.

When the president toured the three Northern regions, Mustapha Hamid, made the headlines for another wrong reason. Not too long ago, when he was the henchman for Akufo-Addo’s gang of media warriors, he took issues with president Mahama, when a journalist died in a car accident, after accompanying the then president to the Volta region.

Today, he has changed his cry and is treating the same journalist, who conspired with the NPP in opposition for a regime change, with disdain and reckless abandonment. When the issue came to the fore, he quickly found a picture of him, looking under a dilapidated car, as helping to convey the media.

Every recent event surrounding Mustapha Hamid, suggests that is almost a goner, I see him being among the first casualties should Akufo-Addo, .realize that, incompetence is trailing his government.

He is practically living on borrowed time. I have no tears for him. He is that proverbial bird that overfed itself and challenged its god to a wrestling contest.

He had written the full epistle of his trajectory and his lieutenants are merely assisting him to lie on his bed the way he prepared it.

Mustapha Hamid, must make his peace first with former president Mahama, his younger brother and Ghanaians, whom he had roundly accused for many thiings by his nuisance outings on national issues. The clear fate he is facing now which trails his every move, is totally self-procured.
