Insecurity: Armed Robbers Shoot Policeman


And Steal Car In Broad Daylight

Two suspected armed robbers, shot a police officer, who led a team to stop their robbery operations at Lapaz near popular restaurant, Las Pamas in Accra.

According to reports, the robbers, who were on motorbikes shot one unidentified police officer three times at about 1 pm, around the popular restaurant in the area.

Eyewitnesses said, the incident was like an action movie. Pictures of the scene show a wounded police officer, lying in the street near two motorbikes, while the two robbers made effort to runaway.

He noted that the masked men, armed with locally manufactured guns, opened fire which brought activities at the very busy area to a halt.

“The police who was part of the team chasing the robbers went closer to them and they shot them three times. He dropped on the floor, but I cannot tell if he is dead” he added.

The armed robbers, he indicated abandoned their motorbikes and snatched an ash Hyundai Sonata in the full glare of the public.

The eyewitness said, the robbers after the operation headed towards Kasoa in the Central region.

Meanwhile, the police man, who sustained gunshot wounds, was rushed to a nearby hospital by some residents in the area.

The Police Service, is currently on a manhunt for two armed men who shot the officers in broad daylight at Lapaz in Accra.

Barely a month ago, another Policeman, believed to be in his 30s, was shot dead by two armed men. The officer, Michael Kporye, was shot in the face, as well as in the chest at Tulaku, near Michel Camp, in the Greater Accra Region.

Suspected armed robbers, have shot and wounded a Police officer at Akwansrem in the Ashanti Region.

Lance Corporal Kwaku Mensah, who was stationed at Anwiankwanta in the Bekwai Municipality, sustained several gunshot wounds, when gunmen attacked a vehicle he was travelling on.

The vehicle was attacked by gun-wielding robbers, who attacked the vehicle at about 10 pm.
