Cured lepers living in the cured Lepers village in Ho, are requesting for assistance from the general public in procuring and storing their medicines, which help in alleviating the pain associated with their condition.
The lepers made this call during a short event in which Global FM, a local Radio station in Ho, donated some food items including; bags of Rice, Cowpea, Gari and gallons of red oil (Zomi) to the village on February 16, in kind gesture, showing love to the cured lepers who live in the village, put up by foreign philanthropists.
The village, has a clinic and accommodation for the cured lepers and their dependents.
The Lepers seized the opportunity to air their challenges, calling on the general public to continue to be benevolent to them, especially in the procurement of their medicines.
They mentioned that, they would be unfair if t they did not express their profound gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Of Global FM and former minister of transport – Dzifa Attivor, for her consistent support in foods, musical instruments, a bus among many others.
They also thanked other foundations, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and benevolent organizations for their enormous support which has kept the village running thus far.
The Programmes manager of Global FM, Egypt Kudoto, encouraged the cured lepers to keep hope alive, whilst the radio station carries their challenges to the world on their behalf.
He assured them of the commitment of the radio station to continually supporting the village.
He also called on the General public to keep in mind that “our brothers and sisters whom out of no fault of theirs find themselves in the situation they are in on daily basis and extend a helping hand to them all the time”.
