‘Gyataba’ Rubbishes NPP’s “Baamu Yada” Demo

The Concerned Youth of Asante (CYA) and the Asante Youth Association (AYA), have jointly issued a strong warning against the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA), Movement For Change (MFC) and the Alliance For Accountable Governance (AFAG) over their recent demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC) and President John Dramani Mahama in Kumasi

Addressing a Press Conference in Kumasi, the President of CYA, Dr Agyenim Boateng, affectionately called “Gyataba” said, by a close reading to the concerns of the demonstrators, they could have staged their demonstration in Accra, which is the seats of the EC and President Mahama and not in Kumasi.

He maintained that, CYA and AYA, have observed with disgust that these demonstrators are only hiding behind Asanteman to wage war against the EC and President Mahama, a desperate recourse that should not be encouraged in Asanteman under no circumstance.

According to the much loved and outspoken Gyataba, it is, therefore penny-pinching to learn that the demonstrators, nearly forced themselves on Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, when he was performing “Awukudae” ritual at Adum, adding that it took the timely intervention of the security of Asantehene to resist the demonstrators, else the unexpected would have happened on that day.

He underlined that, as a matter of urgency, the attitude of the demonstrators, deserves the quickest condemnation, citing that those who did that should bow their heads in shame warning the demonstrators not to stage such demonstration in Kumasi again, but should rather stage all their future demonstrations against the EC and President Mahama in Accra, but not in Kumasi.

Dr Agyenim Boateng a.k.a “Gyataba” underlined that, the NPP invented demonstration dubbed, “Baamu Yaddaa” in Hausa, meaning “We will not agree” in its full measure was a total disgrace to Asanteman, topping up that Asanteman, will never allow any political party to hide behind them to champion any political move. “Baamu Yada” is an affront to the Asante language and culture as a whole”, he noted.

He stated emphatically that, the youth of Asanteman, would not sit on the fence for their members in the NPP to be given the pinch of salt.

In another statement, outspoken Gyataba, noted amidst lamentations that, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, an Asante, who was legitimately elected as General Secretary of the NPP, has been suspended and the rippling effect is that, the reputation of former President, John Agyekum Kufuor, another Asante, who brought the party to power has been swimming in jeopardy.

He made known that, not long ago, an audio went viral on social media, the voice of one Auntie Bee who consistently hurled a heap of insults on President Kufour, but the NPP failed to protest against her uncultured, unrefined behaviour.
