The Zongo Chiefs and Elders of Ablekuma -Joma, a peri-urban area in Accra last week, installed one Naaba Suguru as the Kusasi Youth Chief of the Greater Accra Region (GAR).
The new Kusasi Youth Chief, known in private life as Mohammed Sungtaba, was colourfully installed by the elders of the Ablekuma- Jomo traditional area and the Zongo Chief of Ablekuma -Joma, Alhaji Musa Asong at a ceremony of pomp and pageantry attended by Mr Sidi Abubakar, the National Youth Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) for Maamobi Constituency in the GAR, Gamel Nasser and Alhaji Musa Abudulai, the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Bawku Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Zongo Chief of Ablekuma –Joma, said the elders of the community took the decision to install Naaba Sunguru, because of his tremendous help and assistance to the Kusasi youth living in the region.
He said, the installation of Naaba Sunguru, has been long overdue, hence the merry making that heralded his arrival at the durbar ground.
He appealed to the youth of the area to shun negative vices and channel their energies and efforts into the development of their immediate communities and home.
He noted that by so doing, their efforts would be acknowledged by their elders, who are constantly watching their achievements, as well as their challenges.
On his part, the newly installed Chief, called on the youth to shun violent tendencies and channel their efforts into the development of their immediate communities.
He said, it was unfortunate people of the Northern extraction are perceived as people that embrace violence at the least opportunity.
He appealed to the youth to desist from all violent tendencies to correct the perception harboured by the people of the South.
He pledged to use his new office to unite all people from the North for the mutual development between the Chiefs, Elders and people of the GAR.
He explained that under his stewardship, people from the North, would live in unity in the Greater Accra region.
He appealed to all to stay united and rally their efforts behind him, as well as show respect to the elders for the development of the chieftaincy institution in the country.
