More Ghanaians Nominate Their “Heroes Of Change”


The MTN Ghana Foundation, the corporate social investment arm of telecommunications leader MTN, continues to accept nominations for its MTN Heroes of Change Award 2013.

The MTN Heroes of Change Award programme seeks to recognize and reward outstanding contributions by individuals and groups who have volunteered time, energy and other resources to improve their communities through impactful community initiatives.

The ultimate winner will be adjudged the MTN Hero of Change and will receive project support of up to GH₵ 50,000. Additionally, winners in the six categories of Community Crusader, Social Protection, Health, Environment, Economic Empowerment and Education will each receive project support of up to GHc10, 000each.

Serame Taukobong, Chief Executive Officer of MTN Ghana said, “In communities throughout Ghana, there are people who are passionate about bringing development to communities in need; they make immense sacrifices and defy all odds to enable others have access to basic education and healthcare; they nurture grassroots entrepreneurial capabilities, and willingly volunteer their time for the benefit of others without seeking
any reward; and, in many cases, they are an inspiration for many.”

Members of the public are encouraged to nominate deserving individuals or groups who have gone the extra mile to change the lives of others through impactful community activities. Nominations will be shortlisted and verified, after which projects of the selected finalists will be
publicisedin a 13-week series on select TV stations.

The selection of winners will be done by a five-member jury made up of well accomplished Ghanaian media and business personalities. Nominations may be submitted online at, via email or via post to MTN Heroes of Change, P.O. Box AT179, Achimota Accra.
Nominations may also be dropped off at any MTN Service Centre, branch or store nationwide. Nominations must include personal details of nominator and nominee, brief description of project, why you think your nominee deserves recognition, how your nominee’s effort made a difference, what you think makes your nominee exceptional and unique amongst others. Prospective participants who prefer to complete a predefined form may pick one up at any MTN service center.

MTN hopes that this initiative will encourage people to not only recognise their heroes but also strive to emulate their example of selflessness and volunteerism in our communities.

Nominations close on 30th September 2013. MTN encourages all to nominate their heroes.
