After eight months of political apprehension in the country, two Ghanaian companies, Urban Link Consults and Joy FM in partnership with charismatic churches, will on Saturday October 5, 2013, host South African award-winning gospel choral troupe, dubbed the “Joyous Celebration”, live at the Accra Sports Stadium to celebrate with the nation.
The event which is the first of its kind and named, “Ghana Praise Festival 2013” was launched last Wednesday September 4, at the African Regent Hotel, Accra by the organizers and Joyous Celebration Team from South Africa.
The Herald is informed the event is mainly targeted at political parties, with an intention to neutralize the wild tension and rivalry that was experienced in the country, during prolonged election petition which ended on August 29, with a declaration that President John Mahama validly won the 2012 presidential elections.
The organizers told The Herald, invitations have been sent to all the political leaders, including religious bodies to participate.
The main organizer of the event, Urban Link Consults, believes that “this show will give Ghanaians a night of a life time experience”.
Director of Events at Urban Link Consults, Ms. Elikplim Dzrekey, addressing journalists at the launch of the concert said, the event will “rally all believers from all walks of life for a night of thanksgiving, music, praise, dance and merry making to the glory of God”.
Mbali Thabethe – Organizer Administrator and Lindelani Mkhize – Co. Founder & Director, both from Joyous Celebration promised a genuine African choral gospel music concert that will leave deep-seated memories in the minds of Ghanaians.
According to them, their objective to accept and come to perform was borne out of Ghana’s enviable democratic maturity, which was recently displayed to the world after the Supreme Court’s adjudication of the election petition.
The Joyous Celebration Team, told the media men that they love and respect Ghana and for that matter “we intend to use this platform to create national cohesion”.
About 20,000 tickets is expected to be sold at GH¢40 and GH¢80 for VIP stand, have also been distributed at various charismatic church branches and Joy FM affiliate radio/television stations including some popular supermarkets.
Both the organizers and the Joyous Celebration Team, have agreed to make “Ghana Praise Festival 2013” the most celebrated event annually.
Ms. Dzrekey further assured that “this is maiden edition of the event by Urban Link Consults, would be organized in October every year, where soul inspiring national and international gospel artists of diverse genre would be invited to Ghana to lead the nation on nights of anointed musical concert”.
She emphasized that “Ghana Praise Festival 2013” promises not only to be the biggest outdoor gospel event, but also the preferred destination of all believers every year for a joyous night of praise, thanksgiving and worship”.
