The Providence for Destitute and Orphans in Africa (PDAI), a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) and a subsidiary of the Ga-Dangbe Association in the United States of America (USA), has presented hospital equipment worth five thousand Dollars to the Ridge Hospital in Accra.
The equipment included, wheel chairs, blood pressure monitors, gloves syringes, and clutches among others at a colourful ceremony at the hospital.
Presenting the items, the leader of the NGO, Dr Shirley Ocloo-Engman said, the items were to assist the hospital to provide quality healthcare to the patients.
She further stated that the gesture was meant to help health personnel to discharge their duties efficiently.
Receiving the items, Dr Obeng -Apori, Medical Director at the Ridge Hospital, presented a plague to Dr Shirley Oclo-Engman and thanked her for her continuous support to the hospital over the years.
He further asked for God’s blessings upon her life and appealed to others to emulate her kind gesture to the hospital.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Klotey Klorley Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Armah Ashietey, also presented a plague to the members of the Association for their support to the hospital over the years.
The plague according to him was a sign of his appreciation for the team’s support for the Klottey Klorley Constituency.
He stressed that Government alone cannot shoulder the responsibilities of catering for the need of institutions like hospitals and it is therefore important for NGOs, such as this to come to the aid of such institutions.
He gave hints that he had some medical equipment at the port and after clearing them, he will make them available to the hospital.
He added that as MP for the area; he would continue to solicit support for the hospital and clinics within the Constituency.
He further commended the hospital staff for their dedicated service and urged them to do more for the teeming patients that visit the facility.
