Severe fire, which cause is still under investigation by the Kasoa Police and the Gomoa Budumburam Fire Service officials, occurred at dawn of last weekend, engulfed large quantities of assorted hair and body products cum lotions worth 500, 000 at a warehouse at the residence of the General Secretary of the Kasoa Market Traders Association, Alhaji HarunaTetteh Mensah.
The fire also burnt other items such as books, documents, cupboards and other valuables and the fire explosion destroyed the roofing and doors among others items.
According to AlhajiTetteh Mensah, who spoke to The Herald in an interview on the fire outbreak, the household of which he is the father and owner, heard an explosive noise around 2am, so he and his wife, Hajia Amina Abdallah Mensah and the entire family woke up with curiosity and anxiety to find out what was happening.
He said, they came out and to their dismay, an intense fire burning severely in the warehouse, where volumes and cartons of their commercial cosmetics were stored.
He said, because of the severity of the fire he had to quickly call the fire Service Personnel in Accra for help so the Accra Fire Service in turn quickly called the Budumburam Fire Service who rushed to his house at Kasoa Walatu area to put the fire off.
Alhaji TettehMensah noted that had it not been the timely intervention of the Fire ServicePersonnel ,like there could have been a more disastrous scene as the intense fire got closer to the two cars in his compound and his main house which is very close to the warehouse also within his compound where the family lives and in fact were sleeping when the fire gutted their nearby Warehouse.
He said at the heat of the disaster part of his fence wall had to be broken down for his family to get out of the house safely.
AlhajiTetteh Mensah noted that the cost of the products is so high that the disaster, has really caused him and his family a serious financial loss, adding that they have already informed their suppliers about the calamity.
In fact, the scene was so pathetic, that some of the Journalists at the scene and other sympathisers of the popular couple, burst into tears.
The situation was so serious that it took more than two days for the debris from the fire outbreak to be evacuated and swept away.
Meanwhile, hundreds of well-wishers, have been trouping into their house to greet the couple and offer solidarity messages.
When contacted, Hajia Alima , confirmed the fire outbreak and all that her husband Alhaji Haruna narrated to this paper concerning the disaster.
