Dzifa Attivor Visits Buipe Port


…Promises Revamp of Volta Lake Transport

The Minister of Transport, Dzifa Aku Attivor, has paid an unannounced visit to the Buipe Port in the Central Gonja District of the Northern Region.

Madam Dzifa Attivor, made the surprised visit last Saturday, while she was on her way to Tamale to prepare for President John Dramani Mahama’s arrival tomorrow, to perform the official sod cutting of the Tamale Airport expansion.

At the Buipe Port, the Minister was received by the Manager, Benjamin Kobina Wilson.

She assured them of government commitment to the transformation of the Volta Lake Transport Company Limited.

According to Mrs. Attivor, government had procured a number of water buses for the company to augment the existing fleet.

Incidentally, at the time of her visit, the Volta Queen has arrived and was offloading cement brought from the South to the Northern part of the country. The Captain of the Vessel is Capt Nat Bediako.

Madam Dzifa Attivor, told the crew onboard the Volta Queen that, government was employing other avenues in order to raise the needed resources to refurbish the landing sites, before the ferries, and the water buses are deployed.
