One of the two friends, Theophilus Akai Baddo who got drown with his friend, Eric Larbi Asiedu at Teshie after a heavy down pour in parts of Accra and its environs last Saturday, is to be buried on December 20.
Due to the circumstances that led to their unfortunate demise, Theophilius will be buried without laying him in state, whiles Eric will be buried at a yet to be announced date.
The 35-year old, who plies his trade in far away Saudi Arabia, but came back to Ghana to bury his late father, a New Town Mantse, was due to report back to his base on January 10, 2014.
His wife Akua, who had lived with her late husband in Tarkwa in the Western Region for most part of their marital live, is said to be pregnant with their third child.
The two friends, according to source, were said to have visited a very good friend, Fredrick Adjei Frimpong, a spare parts dealer at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, at the Old Teshie Nungua Estate near the popular A-Life Super Market.
After visiting the Spintex Road house of Fred, the three friends went to a restaurant, Busy Mouth Foods and Drinks to eat after which Fred with his little daughter Ama, parted ways with them to his other house at the Old Estate. Sources say if Fred had decided to join his friends to drop Eric, he will have suffered the same fate.
Theophilus, who was then driving with Eric in his unregistered Hyundai with a plate number DP 2467, decided to drop Eric, 28, at his Nungua residence before heading back to his New Town residence where his wife and two children reside.
Unfortunately, the two friends who according to eyewitnesses cautioned them from using that road, because the big drain had over flown its banks, ignored the many calls from rescuers and in the process got their vehicle trapped in the water.
After disregarding the many calls, Theophilius, in an attempt to force his way through the thick water, got stuck somewhere about a mile away from where they had gone to eat earlier.
The car was later found about a mile away from the eatery joint, while the two bodies were located in a far away mangrove at Sangonaa in Nungua, close to the sea on Sunday.
Fred, who is said to be shocked and traumatized, was yet to come to terms with the reality that his two bosom friends, have indeed passed on to glory.
