The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ideal Finance, one of the leading micro -finance institutions in the country, Dr Kotei Djani, has been inducted as an ambassador of the World Trade Centre (WTC), the world’s leading investment and trade promoter.
Dr Djani, is the first Ghanaian to have assumed the elite member status of the WTC by paying an amount of ten thousand Dollars, an equivalent of two hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis to take up the prestigious position of brand ambassador position of WTC in Ghana.
Per the tenets of WTC, DR Djani, would have the opportunity to attend all trade programmes free of charge and enjoy its privileges in accordance with its principles.
Speaking at the presentation of the membership card to Dr Kotei Djani at a colourful ceremony at the premises of the WTC near the British High Commission in Accra, Togbui Afede, the paramount Chief of the Ho traditional area in the Volta Region and the Chairman of WTC-Accra said, entry into the global trade is a complex endeavour that requires a wide range of trade services and specialised skills.
He said, WTC achieves its mission by providing a wide array of support functions and networking links that help companies to achieve success.
He noted that the WTC headquarters in the city of New York , United States of America has exclusive right to grant the use of the name WTC to Ghana.
According to him, this is more important than ever in the current global economic environment.
Although Governments provide support for the expansion of trade, specialised and targeted services, those provided by WTC are often critical for the success of companies newly engaged in trade transactions, he explained
Sharing more lights on the work of WTC-Accra office, he said the centre provides a range of information necessary for successful trade transactions such as trade flow statistics, business contacts , profiles of buyers and suppliers, Government regulations and market conditions.
He explained that WTC -Accra office can draw upon their counterparts in other cities for access to trade contracts and opportunities worldwide.
He said, WTC would from next month offer a plethora of courses on international trade practices, both local and global.
“We offer seminars and workshops at the convention centre that foster interactive discussions about global trade issues, as well as speaker programmes on timely subjects’”, he maintained
He noted that some of the services offered by WTC in addition to trade information was the temporary office space , video conferencing, meeting rooms, secretarial services and inviting members to join WTC.
On his part, Dr Djani was hopeful being a member of the board of WTC would offer him the opportunity to promote Ghanaian businesses abroad.
