Inside Ghana wishes to register its displeasure about the scandalous and cowardly comments making the news in the light of Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata’s observation on Justice Anim Yeboah’s posture during the election petition hearing.
This was contained in a statement signed by Alex Doe, Operational Director of Inside Ghana.
The statement said “It must be noted by all that Tsatsu Tsikata is not just a lawyer, but an astute lawyer of high repute, a legal luminary, a former lecturer in that sense and a man of integrity and sincerity to his loved profession as a lawyer. It should be in the interest of all well meaning Ghanaians and those who uphold to the rule of law in this country to hail Tsatsu in high esteem for exhibiting boldness in speaking the truth about the conduct and posture of a judge in the just ended election petition hearing. This is to buttress the earlier comment Justice Kpegah had made some months back that some judges are trading with JUSTICE which as a matter of fact must not be the case. And also the Chief Justice’s admonishment of corruption in the judiciary should be a concern for us all”.
The statement continued that “What is the state of higgledy piggledy and the supposed contemptuous statement people claimed he had made? Tsatsu cannot just reduced himself to the level of Gabby Okyere Darko, certain Sammy Awuku and Owusu Afriyie popularly knwn as Sir John by making contemptuous and irresponsible statement as can be attributed to the NPP capos. The critics should have a second thought and deal with the substance of the issue raised by Tsatsu Tsikata before calling for the head of the innocent down to earth lawyer who seeks to expose a perception many Ghanaians hold. After all, the Ghana Integrity Initiative report indicts the Judiciary as the 4th most corrupt institution in the country, an opinion expressed by Ghanaians in the said report”.
“ Inside Ghana is therefore of the view that Mr. Tsikata has provoked a very sensitive debate of national interest which must be addressed. This
hanky panky ostrich attitude adopted by some lawyers who have attacked Mr. Tsikata is a reflection how polarized and partisan the country is and it’s most unfortunate. For how could Samson Lardy become a resource person on matters of such magnitude? It is an affront to the law profession and the biggest insult to the intelligence of listeners of Multimedia (Asempa) to be subjected to the infantile, unintelligent and misguided comments of a 2year old lawyer who is yet to win his first case in court.
“ Inside Ghana would like to put it straight to those unrecognized and unattractive lawyers like Samson Lardy who would like to ride on the back Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata to build their credibility and gain cheap popularity to desist from it because their recklessness will not go unnoticed under the very watchful eyes of inside Ghana. We encourage such lawyers to build their credibility in the courtrooms and not on radio spewing invectives and drawing illogical conclusions without recourse to common sense.
“It must be realized that Tsikata’s comment is not in the same light as what Mr. Owusu Afriyie said about Justice Atuguba and the entire Supreme Court. And not damning as the leaked tape of Sammy Awuku of the NPP yet the media played all these down. Inside Ghana has also observed with regret the media bias which seeks to disadvantage the National Democratic Congress and the government. It is “most unfortunate that in all these, a large number of media houses are being blinded by partisanship which defeats the purpose of ethics and professionalism of journalism.
“Inside Ghana would like to caution the enemies of progress and the detractors of this country to stop the cheap-chopped politics and commend Tsatsu for his bravado. After all, is it not true that we all have perception of judicial partisanship and corruption?”, concluded the statement.
