I must confess. I am one of those people who admire the phonetics of the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Danwka Akufo-Addo.
Even if he doesn’t make sense, which he doesn’t most of the time, I will love to hear him over and over again.
He has a gift for oratory, a gift he has mastered over the years, because of his end game, which he has shown since he was old enough to engage in politics.
To Nana Addo, the presidency is his birthright, anybody beside him, who occupies the highest office of the land, is a usurper.
When I read yesterday that, Nana Addo, has accepted the challenge or what I will call a Trojan horse thrown to him by President John Dramani Mahama to debate him. I said wait a minute Nana that was a wrong answer. You do need a lot of help sir.
Nana Addo, now that you are 72 years, there are things you can say and there are things that you cannot think not to even talk of saying it for anyone to hear.
There are things you can do, and there are things you dare not contemplate. I have learnt long time ago, not to enter into a fist fight, because anytime I tried I come home with bruises and memories that lingers on for a very long.
A ripe mango, will fall off the tree , that is the law of gravity. Nana, at your age, I did not expect you to answer the President with so much dispatch. Have you consulted well with your advisors, before falling for this well packaged apple the President is offering?
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice-presidential candidate of the NPP, is in the same league as the President, his faculties will not fail him, he won’t stammer to answer to questions, he can stand for long hours, he is the match for the President, not the Octogenarian.
We are all witnesses to the abysmal performance of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in the 2012 debate, where he failed to make one coherent statement.
Talking is different from debate, when you are on a campaign trail, you are judged based on the number of unsubstantiated allegations you can make and Nana Addo, has shown to be a master at that.
The last time I heard him was on Citi FM, when he graced their breakfast show, as usual and characteristic of him, he showed up late with an excuse of not being told the right time. That excuse was a ruse as every listener of that station, know the time the programme starts and end.
Nana Addo, need to first of all get a transcript of all the interviews he has given to both local and international media in the last four years, and do a review with his media team and a few honest, fearless men and women. Ask them a simple question—What do you think? I am hoping you will get some help to guide you about making future utterances.
The President is on top of issue, he is apt on matters concerning the country, Nana Addo, should not blow any chance he has at annexing the presidency this year.
The 2016 presidential election is like a penalty kick for Nana Addo, will he take it as Lionel Messi, Christiano Ronaldo or Asamoah Gyan. The way things are shaping up Nana Addo, is likely to take it as Asamoah Gyan.
I will in the coming days, show Nana Addo why I think this year’s election is the best chance yet for him to quench his thirst for power and fulfill his unbridled ambition. Everything points to a victory for him, but he is also creating the conditions necessary for him to lose and then he will cry foul, like he has always done.
His biggest political mistake will be to accept the challenge of the President, who by the way is playing with him, because he knowsNana Addo is no match for him.
Nana Addo, in a recent picture looked more broken with sick smiles than any other time during his woebegone political career.
Dr. Bawumia talks economics, he talks sense, Nana Addo talks politics and propaganda, so he cannot for a moment debate President Mahama.
Our elders have a saying that, when you see a pregnant goat being sold in the market, it means there is a pregnant problem at home. The President, want to disgrace, humiliate and tear Nana Addo, into pieces that is why he threw him this bone.
Without thinking through it, Nana Addo, has also accepted to be mocked. Nana Addo, is not fit, that is a fact, Nana Addo, is old, age is having a toll on him, anytime I hear him, I feel pity for the once vibrant, coherent and lively person. A lawyer, who once upon a time used to woeJudges, is now a pale shadow of his brilliant past.
He needs to accept that, man proposes, God disposes. You don’t challenge your son to a duel, when you are 73 years of age, this is why Nana, your answer to that challenge is flawed. May God give you the wisdom to accept what you can and cannot do.
