This is an unusual way to communicate to you, but I know you are a merciful and listening God. You will grant my prayers and that of millions of Ghanaians, who cry to you everyday to intervene in the affairs of this nation.
You have proven time and again that, this country is one of your chosen nations to bring change and lead in positive revolution in the affairs of men.
Through our first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and the big six, this country became the first country to attain Independence in sub-Saharan Africa.
We could not have achieved in this feat, if you did not believe in the capacity and ability of Ghanaians to be the trail blazers, and true to that many Africa countries, followed suit.
Of the all gift you gave us, was to put us in the middle of the world. The Greenwich Meridian passes through Tema and so puts us in the middle of the world.
We could not have asked of more, but like Oliver Twist we came back to you again and you answered us. There were little or no single blood of the innocent shed in all the military uprising we have witnessed in this country.
Every Coup D’état, we have had since the overthrow of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, have all being largely peaceful.
That was the ultimate of your love. The First Black Secretary- General of the United Nations (UN), Kofi Annan, is an illustrious son of this country. His tenure as the Head of UN, was one of the successful years in the life of that Assembly, yes he was a Ghanaian.
You gave our first President, the wisdom to set up an Atomic Energy Commission, way ahead of many of his peers, even before some European countries, ever dreamt of it.
Our democracy is the envy of many African countries, we have held elections since 1992 and despite the anxiety and acrimony, we have been quoted as practicing the best democracy in Africa.
You have giving us a rich culture, diverse people with common destiny. We have lived as one people, devoid of tribalism. When we envied other nations for having oil, you gave us too one of the bounties of life. We also discovered oil, after many years of search. Today, we are also among
the oil producing nations of the world.
We have cocoa, gold, diamond, bauxite, etc. you have been good to us, we couldn’t have asked for more.
I come before you today, Dear God, to ask that, if you have forgotten about us for our iniquities, please forgive us and accept us back into your fold, as one of your most cherished people.
You have guided us, loved us, made us number one in everything we do and find ourselves. Our Senior National Team carried high the flag of Africa, the first time Africa hosted the World Cup. It was clear and evident that, we were supposed to have hosted it, but the leaders, you have given us since Dr. Kwame Nkrumah have not lived up to the promise you made to us.
Countries that used to look to us for direction and development are now miles ahead of us. We were the leading producer of Cocoa, despite the problems in Ivory Coast, they have overtaking us, even though our Cocoa is the best in the world.
In Kenya, Alshabab is terrorizing and killing people, including one of us, Prof. Kofi Awoonor, yet Kenya remains one of the best investment destinations in Africa.
Boko Haram and the emergence of Biafra, is making Nigeria a difficult place to live, investors are supposed to be running away from that country, yet despite the uncertainty, they still run to invest in that country.
What are we doing wrong or have done wrong for you to make us feel like we are no longer your chosen people.
Dear God, I am one of the 25 million Ghanaians, who are privileged to be one. The best gift you gave me is for me to be born in Ghana and be a Ghanaian. I have absolute faith in your capacity to forgive us and lead us back onto the right track.
If you are doing it for Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda etc, we raise our hands to you, please do it for us too. We pray for a new direction, we have never lost hope, despite our numerous problems, we know that with you in the vessel, we will smile at the end of the storm.
We have some of the biggest and nicest churches in Africa, if not the world, we pray every day, to us we do not wait for one day in a week to pray and exalt you, we do that every day, please don’t forsake us.
God, you know the heart of men and you know most of our leaders, don’t mean well for this country. We implore you to get those leaders far from power. They do not deserve to lead you people.
What is it that is in the leaders of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda that our leaders don’t have. Why do they seem to have the spirit of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and our leaders don’t have. They are effecting changes in the lives of their people, they are living legacies that, would outlive them when they are dead and gone, what are our leaders living behind?
I am not asking for more than you have already done for us, Dear God, all I am asking for, is for you to return us back to the glory old days. The days that every Ghanaian anywhere in the world, is proud to say he is a Ghanaian, the days when Ghana is the preferred destination for tourist and investors in Africa.
Dear God, give us the caliber of leaders we deserve, leaders who have passion and empathy, leaders who see the opportunity to serve as a calling, leaders who will appreciate that, one day they will account for their stewardship before your Holy Throne.
We deserve more than we are getting, please do for us, as you have done for Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and recently Nigeria.
I am on my knees Dear God.
