‘Chairman Ecobank’ Freddie Blay On Another Feast Of NPP’s Money

‘Ecobank Chariman’ Freddie Blay, last year was in the center of a swirling financial scandal. This miasma was generated by revelations of a gargantuan sum of GH¢6.2million, lodged at the Ecobank, which later shrunk to GH¢¢5.1 million.

This money was lodged, onthe blindside of the suspended National Chairman, Paul Afoko, and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong.

When the two dared to raise a query, what befell them, is a subject for future political students to study.

The dog has once again been thrown a bone, a very meaty bone, without anybody to account to and is no longer looking over his shoulder to see who is watching or coming.

The man now has a field day, to do as he wishes and spend as he deems fit.

Last week, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), launched a fundraising campaign to allow party members, sympathizers, donors and every Ghanaian who
believes in their course to contribute.

What course really has the NPP that, they keep disturbing our ears about a course that is difficult to see and explain.

The ousted chairman, Paul Afoko and his accomplice Kwabena Agyepong, had earlier before their suspension launched a similar and more transparent fund raising scheme in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, at the time Nana Addo, was on his restoring hope tour.

The party hierarchy then did not support Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, obviously because they were not going to have a field day to spend the money, anyhow they deem fit and so the idea and the launch suffered a stillbirth.

Today, after getting rid of them, ‘Ecobank Chairman’, and his cohorts, has whirled the fortune wheel again, and I seeing them already smiling to the bank.

Man is rich at the expense of party supporters, who have been hypnotized by ‘Ecobank Chairman’and the flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who still thinks, President John Dramani Mahama, has stolen his birthright.

I am not a doomsday preacher, neither am I a soothsayer, but I can see trouble in the future, when Nana Addo, is finally retired after November 7, the story of how party funds, were squandered by ‘Ecobank Chairman’, will be told.

I will be here Insha’Allah, and will rejoice not because the party faithful were fooled into believing that ‘Chairman Ecobank’, has anything good up his sleeves, but that the veil will be stripped off their faces and they will see him for who and what he is after he took Convention People’s Party down same lane.

Anybody, who knows ‘Ecobank Chairman’ very well, will tell you the man will do anything for money. His penchant and appetite for money knows no bound.

He can go every length, as long as money is concern.

A lawmaker, who represented the people of Ellembelein the Western Region for more than a quarter century in Congress, ‘Chairman Ecobank’ was no fly-by-night but a nimble politician who held positions in parliament and knew his way around how to manipulate people.

He went to parliament on the ticket of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), when he realized the CPP, could not get him what he wants, in 2008, against his party’s caution and warning, the man was doing kangaroo dance on NPP platforms.

When his attention was drawn to that open and blatant betrayal, he called the bluff of the party and all his stood for; he compromised his principles, for a pot of porridge. Promises were made to him and he went to town singing, we are moving forward.

This is the man we are talking about, who thinks that everything in life is about money. Because of money, he has usurped the position of an elected officer and taking over. He now so gleefully accept being called the Acting Chairman of the New Patriotic Party.

A viper, whose calling in life is money, is now going to oversee how NPP resources are expended in this year’s election.

I weep for the NPP, and I am wondering what he has done to blind Nana Addo from seeing clearly. He stood before the country, first lied to NPP supporters and then to Ghanaians, and importantly disappointed himself, by saying that, the administration of President Mahama, is riddled with corruption.

It is said that, those who live in glass house, do not throw stones and this is a classical case of the pot calling the kettle black, ‘Chairman Ecobank’, saying someone is corrupt, wonders they say shall never end.

It is easy to accuse someone, but it is annoying when you are guiltier than the person you are accusing.

‘Chairman Ecobank’, even in opposition, has serious allegations of embezzlement hanging around his neck; he is desperately looking for someone to hang on. He did that to chairman Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong, when that failed to stick; he has turned his guns on President Mahama.

I can forgive him for his holier than thou attitude, but what I can’t forgive is his hypocrisy and double standards.

‘Chairman Ecobank’, is also astute enough to know that his self-inflicted political wound, would impede his ability to be an unbiased umpire.

May God save the NPP and Ghana from a hungry unrepentant vampire like ‘Chairman Ecobank’, he sleeps, dream and thinks money.
