There are calls from various quarters to commend Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the first petitioner in the election petition for gracefully accepting the court’s verdict and for saying that he would not seek a review.
I myself was misled in the milieu, to add my voice to the calls for his show of statesmanship and maturity in the way he is handled himself so far, especially after the Supreme Court ruling. But his lack of strong leadership has opened members of the Bench to public ridicule and insults.
Some have even suggested that he be awarded the Nobel Peace prize, I think that is a call that is misplaced.
Upon sober reflection and my digestion of the current discourse on the airwaves, in the newspapers, on various social media platforms, I have come to the conclusion that Nana Akufo-Addo, has done more harm to this country than the credit and the praises we all seem to be showering on him.
We are a country of little thinkers; we always miss the big picture and spend more on the little and insignificant things, that does not require any serious thinking to accomplish or see, if not nobody will even suggest that Nana Addo has done well, he accepted the ruling, because he had no choice. So it was nothing extra-ordinary, yet we think we should applaud him.
The Judiciary over the years has remained the soul and conscience of this country, where we all rush to, to seek redress, when our rights have been trampled upon, when we feel cheated or robbed.
Although, it has its own challenges and allegations of corruption, the third Arm of government have not done badly at all. They have not been spared the vilifications and insults that have defined the way we do politics In this country, because we revere them, until Nana Addo decided to petition them, challenging the results of the 2012 presidential elections.
Every President, since Independence, who is an embodiment of who we are as a people, has not been spared the usual insult that has characterized our political discourse, but our Judges, nobody dared.
Now that the big elephant is down, all the little animals are pounding on it. If not, how can an ignoramus like, Ken Opetey Kurankye, Managing Editor of the Searchlight, also have the guts to question a ruling by the highest court of the land, as former President Jerry John Rawlings, will say ‘who born dog’.
He is not alone in this crusade to malign the Justices who voted against the relief the Petitioners were seeking.
Even the street lawyer, Gabby Asare Okyere Darko, has written his own judgement, a subtle attempt to tell the Justices that they did not know what they were about. I will be glad, if ex-Rastaman, now turned lawyer will tell us how many cases, he has won, since he was called to the Bar.
Pick Daily Guide, since the ruling and you will feel sad how low the standard of journalism has fallen, paper owned by a Lawyer, who ought to know better have become the harbinger for the denigration of our Judges. Justice William Atuguba, has suddenly become a rock star, his picture is almost on every newspaper that is favorably disposed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP). His crime or his apparent popularity is because; he was the presiding Judge and voted against their wild and frivolous claims of vote rigging to favour President John Dramani Mahama.
Read the following and you will agree with me that Nana Addo only portends bad omen for this country. why should one man’s ambition of leading this country lead everybody astray.

The list of irresponsible statements made by mostly leading members of the NPP is endless. For purpose of respect for my readers, as well as the newspaper, I prefer not to mention them here.
Even the King of Ashanti, Otumfuor Osei Tutu, have also not been spared the accusations, a recent newspaper publication accused him of bribing some Judges to swing their ruling on the landmark presidential election petition in favour of President John Dramani Mahama, how absurd, has
Nana Addo not seen this report, Why is he keeping silence on it?
As for the Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), Dr. Kwadwo Afari Djan, he is the worst hit in all the vile attacks. It is said that when it suit the Devil he quotes the bible. Afari Djan since 1996, has presided over elections that has seen both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and NPP win. Each time any party loses, he is chastised and called names. If I was him, I will resign so that we go and bring Jesus Christ to come and preside over elections in this country.
All these insults are flying around, without Nana Addo saying anything or calling his people to order, except to find his voice to call for calm within the NPP.
This was a report on my Joyfmonline.com “Akufo-Addo calls for calm within NPP”. Nana Addo what about the insults on the Supreme Court judges, are they not also human beings?
Threatening fire and brimstone against any opposition- real or imaginary to Nana Addo’s ambition is only an expression of disabled and unintelligent mindsets. Imagine the street talk that “Nana Addo must be president whether Ghanaians vote for him or not.” How shall this thing be? Please spare us the ugly noises. If the Battle is the Lord’s, then let him decide who leads us.
