Lagos state police command has refuted claims by Burna Boy that he has honoured the invitation sent to him to appear before operatives.
Recall that Lagos State Police commissioner, Edgal Imohimi on Monday declared Burna Boy wanted.
He is accused of ordering Mr 2kay’s robbery attack at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.
However, Burna Boy’s management released a statement yesterday claiming that the artiste had met with the police.
But Lagos spokesman, Olarinde Famous-Cole, who confirmed to DAILY POST that it was only Burna Boy’s father, Samuel Ogulu, that reported to the station on Tuesday.
He said: “The Lagos state police would like to inform members of the public that Damini Ogulu aka ‘Burna Boy’ is yet to report himself to the police and still on the run contrary to reports making the rounds on the internet that the musician has honoured police invitation.”
“The command would also like to inform the public that only Burna Boy’s father, one Samuel Ogulu, that visited the investigating police officer (IPO) in-charge of the case with the promise to bring Burna boy to the police.
“The command however uses this medium to urge Burna Boy’s father and relatives to bringing the musician and turning him to the police before the long arm of the law catches up with him.”
Burna Boy breaks silence on robbery attack on Mr 2kay
Nigerian dancehall star, Burna Boy has denied involvement in robbery attack on Mr 2kay.
Tunmise Omotore, gang leader of the suspected robbers, had opened up on how they disguised as room service to rob their victim at Eko Hotel and Suites.
On Monday, Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, was declared wanted by Lagos police over the incident.
On Tuesday, his record label insists their artiste is innocent.
“The management of Burnaboy (Spaceship entertainment) hereby makes an official statement regarding the news that Burna Boy has been declared wanted by the police”, a statement by the company read.
“We use this medium to categorically state that Burna Boy is not in any way involved with the robbery and beating up of Grafton records artiste Mr 2kay on the 22nd October.
“The first and only invitation burna boy has ever received from the police was issued yesterday Nov 20th 2017. This invitation was honoured yesterday and it has been made clear that he is happy to cooperate with the police as best as he can.
“It is pertinent to note that he was never served an arrest warrant nor has he been declared wanted
“We are confident that the Nigeria Police with deal with this fairly and professionally.”
