…….. Chief Advised Zongo Youth.
The Chief of Kotokoli community at Anyinam-Zongo in the Kwabre-East Municipality in the Ashanti Region, Wuro Usman Iddrisu, has advised Zongo youth in the region to avoid acts that would bring the good name of Muslims into disrepute, by indulging in criminal activities.
Therefore, they should always strive at all times to be law-abiding and respectful to elders, the traditional and norms of their hosts the Ashantis, to remain solid and continue to keep peace, which the region is enjoying, ensure peaceful co-existence in the region.
Wuro Usman Iddrisu, was speaking during the installation of Alhaji Tanko Shaharu, as Sarkin Samari (Youth Chief) of Kotokoli community at a colourful ceremony at Anyinam-Zongo last week.
Wuro Usman made it clear that residents in the Zongos, especially elders in the region from time immemorial have lived in peace with the Ashantis and has conducted themselves to the administration of their hosts including Chiefs of the area.
The Kotokoli Chief appealed to the youth not to fight each other but they should use their strengths and experience to fight immorality, drug abuse, gambling and illiteracy which is retarding the progress of the area.
“Let us fight illiteracy, gambling and drug abuse, not tribe against tribe”. This is the stand of Wuro Usman
The new Sarkin Samari, Alhaji Tanko Shaharu, 54years, was a professional driver who succeeded the late Sarkin- Samari, Aliu Mecheri, who died this year 2018, pledged to serve the people sincerely.
Sarkin Samari of Kotokolis and his Deputy Mohammed Awal Yussif (a.k.a Malam Fari) pledged their support for the Chiefs and Elders especially the Youth in the implementation of their development agenda.
The new Sarkin-Samari, Alhaji Tanko, appealed to the youth to put their political affiliations aside and forge unity in order to move the area forward.
He also appealed to the Kwabre-East Municipal Assembly to provide the area with social amenities, such as access Roads, Clinics, Market among others.
The installation ceremony was attended by all the tribal Chiefs and Imams in the Anyinam-Zongo.
They prayed for the Nation, the President, Akufo-Addo, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, Minsters of State, MPs and Nana Amo Ntiedu, Chief of Anyinam.
