Bawumia Coming Home Finally!

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, is expected back in the country this week The Herald has gathered.

Government sources say the second gentleman, who has been in the United Kingdom (UK) with his wife, Samira Bawumia, following a sudden undisclosed ill-health about two weeks a ago, will touch down hopefully today, Wednesday January 31, 2018.

But other sources, at Ghana’s High Commission in UK, have reliably informed this paper that he will rather come home over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Majority Leader and Minster for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, has also said he has been informed Dr. Bawumia was well and will be in town by the end of the week. It is, however, clear he is coming home any day from today.

Speaking on Okay Fm’s ‘Ade Akye Abia’ programme, the Suame Member of Parliament (MP) added that he was due to return last week, but was advised to take the week off and rest.

“Though I am yet to speak to him, am well informed that he is very well and looking healthier to begin his daily activities”, he added.

Last week Saturday, Dr. Bawumia and wife, were seen in a video taking a walk on the streets of London that left further doubts in the minds of the Ghanaian.

Pictures and a video circulating on social media showed Dr. Bawumia, taking a stroll with his wife Samira Bawumia on London’s oxford street.

Dr. Bawumia left Ghana for the united kingdom two Fridays ago on medical leave after the presidency, revealed that he had been taken ill earlier in the day, and was undergoing medical tests.

The Information Minister, Mustapha Hamid, later added that the decision to fly Dr. Bawumia to the UK, was to ensure that he was kept away from visitors, who may disturb his rest and recuperation period.

Prior to these pictures coming out, Samira Bawumia offered some assurances concerning the recovery of the vice president, saying her husband was “doing very well” and looking “forward to returning to work soon.”

Before Samira Bawumia’s statement, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, described as a close associate of the vice president, said he was recovering fast from his illness.

Gabby posted a short facebook comment to suggest that the vice president is in good health and resting and not in a hospital as many have been made to think, but at a decent flat in London.

“I’m in London and have had opportunities to spend some good, jovial and intellectual sweet moments with Dr Bawumia but far from the view of any nurse or doctor; in some small, decent flat he has rented for the very short time he is away here on leave,” he wrote on his facebook timeline.

The Information Ministry, had said the Vice President was doing well and would resume official duties only when his physicians allowed him to do so.

Details of the Vice President’s illness, remains a closely guarded secret, although some have reported stroke. If this is indeed true, his stressful workload and public engagements, are going to be limited to avoid another relapse.
