A total of 36 participants, made up of assemblymen and women, Zonal Council Members and selected Unit Committee members, under the Awutu-Senya East Municipal Assembly, have been taken through a two days intensive capacity building workshop.
The workshop, which was organized under the auspices of the Municipal Assembly, according to the Municipal Planning Officer (MPO), Mr. Isaac Tettey was to sharpen the skills of participants in good governance.
At the workshop, members were trained on various Committees of the Assembly and how each function in relation to another in the delivery of their work.
They were also taken through the Module Standing Orders of the Assembly, planning and composite budgeting, as well as, communications about how various committee members can communicate with each other and their residents.
Mr. Vincent Emefa Sepenu, a Social Engineering Development Associate, who was the Consultant for the workshop, told The Herald that he was satisfied by the level of corporation and seriousness participants attach to the workshop.
The Consultant said, he was positive that the training would impact more knowledge, which would reflect in both their Committee and Assembly duties.
Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Dr. Adams Nuhu, who was present during the closing ceremony, disclosed that the workshop was just the start of series of capacity building workshops by the Assembly. He indicated that next on the schedule would be the staff of the Assembly, including heads of departments.
The MCE revealed that it is the vision of the Assembly to empower staff and employees of the Assembly, in order to perform efficiently.
