…Over Ayeh-Paye’s Seclusion Agenda
The elders and people of Awuoreso in the Ayensuano Constituency of the Eastern Region, have taken a swipe at the sitting New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr Samuel Ayeh-Paye, for his selectivity in lobby for developmental projects for the Constituency.
According to the people, since Mr Ayeh-Paye assumed office as the MP, his attention is on the areas he deem are sympathetic to the opposition NPP in the Constituency, neglecting the areas the areas he perceive as sympathetic to the ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC).
Madam Rebecca Nuwufio, the lady Amankrado of Awuoreso, one of the farming communities in the Akwapim South Municipality , made this revelation about the MP’s attitude towards the development of the area in an interview with The Herald.
She said, the behavior of the MP is retarding the developmental needs of the area and all attempts to get the MP to redefine his ways because “we are all Ghanaians” have fallen on deaf ears.
She said, when news got to the MP that the metres that were supplied by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to connect the area to the National grid had been recalled, nothing had been heard from him, particularly in resolving the delays in connecting the area and surrounding
villages to the national grid.
“Metres were recalled from the residents, because some unscrupulous members of the area engaged in illegal connections even before the ECG connects the area to the national grid,” she said
She explained that the MP has not bothered to solicit some answers from the ECG as to why the metres were recalled from the area.
She questioned that if the area had been one of the areas sympathetic to the NPP, he would have been heard on Peace FM complaining about the raw
deal meted to the people by the ECG.
She said, for the ECG to come for the metres, the residents have paid for without assigning any tangible reasons for their decision is disrespectful to the Chief and people of the area.
She noted that if the area had been those areas surrounding his Otoase home town, he would have been heard bleating about it on all the radio stations he appears on.
But he does not care about us, because he perceives us as being sympathetic to the course of the NDC, she maintained
She related that during the last elections, agents of the MP were seen distributing farm inputs to only some NPP supporters in the area.
She said, three surrounding areas in the Constituency have not seen any development or advocacy, since the MP assumed office.
She explained that any time a calamity befalls the areas sympathetic to the MP’s party, he quickly goes to their aid, but any time people of this area need the assistance of the MP, he refuse to render assistance.
She was quick to add that even though the MP is a lawyer maker and that the development of the area falls under the ambit of the municipal Assembly, the MP can advocate for some projects that are needed for the livelihood of the people.
