The New Patriotic Party (NPP) activist, who was recently assaulted by some ‘macho men’ suspected to be members of the NPP after breaking into the studios of Kumasi-based Fox FM during a live discussion is expected to break his long silence today.
Kofi Baah Acheamfour, will be addressing a press conference at Rexma Hotel in Kumasi- Ashanti Region.
Details of what he is expected to be talking about are sketchy, but NPP insiders say he intend talking about the true state of the party led by its flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.
Mr. Baah Acheamfour, will mention corruption which has bedeviled the party, violence and disrespect for the party’s Constitution, leading to the sacking of the three prominent national executives of the party, namely National Chairman, Paul Afoko, General Secretary, Kwabena Agyapong, and Second Vice-Chairman, Sammy Crabbe.
It is not certain what security measures have been put in place for him ahead of the presss conference, especially in the face of the recent violent attacks of some party elements, including Collins Owusu Amankwah, MP for Manhyia North constituency and Constituency Secretary, Felix Ibrahim, during the just ended Electoral Commission (EC)’s first phase of the Limited Voter Registration exercise.
The Ashanti Regional Police, arrested Kwesi Kyei, the NPP Regional Communications Director for masterminding the attack on his fellow party member, Baah Acheamfour; once an aide to the late Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.
Kyei, according to Police source, was arrested some few minutes after the Fox FM incident on Monday, April 25, 2016.
The Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the NPP, is accused of hiring the machomen, who stormed the studios of the Kumasi-based radio and subjected Baah Acheamfour, who was one of the panelists discussing political issues, to severe beatings.
ASP Mohammed Yusif Tanko, Public Relations Officer of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, Tuesday, told journalists that, Kyei was arrested moments after the attack, but was granted police inquiry bail.
However, he was re-arrested on Tuesday and charged by the Police for two counts – assault and conspiracy to commit assault.
“According to the information that we have, it is Mr Kyei, who called the people to the scene because Mr. Kyei was the first person to be there to protest the presence of Mr. Baah Acheamfuor at Fox FM,” ASP Tanko narrated.
Baah Acheamfour, one of the fiercest critics of Nana Akufo-Addo, had the rudest shock of his life, when he was beaten by macho men in the studios of Fox FM.
The well-built men, attacked Acheamfour, who is the Communications Director of NPP appendage “Save NPP Now” after he reportedly lambasted Nana Akufo-Addo for being behind the division in the elephant family.
He allegedly also condemned the recent fund raising campaign (Yi Bi Ma) launched by the NPP, saying the NPP flagbearer, must accounts for all the money he had gotten through his various fundraising schemes abroad.
