Ash Cell & MTN Support Salafest With Donation

Ash cell, an authorized dealers of MTN’s products in Ashanti Region, in partnership with MTN have donated items worth GH¢9000 to Kumasi central mosque and other mosques numbering over twenty in the region.

The donation formed part of annual support, the telecommunication giant and its subsidiary, Ash Cell make to the celebration of a month long fasting and prayers enjoyable.

The items donated included, cooking oil, bags of rice, indomie, and other assorted foods.

Presenting the items to the Regional Chief Imam, the General Manager for the Northern Business district of MTN, Mr. James Bukari Basintale said, the organization demonstrated the above act of charity to show their appreciation to the Muslims for patronizing their services and to strengthen their cordial relationship with the Muslim community, so as to challenge them to continue patronizing their services.

On his part, the Ashanti Regional Manager of Ash cell, Mr. Jerry Ochil, emphasized that the items donated formed part of the company’s social responsibility.

On this basis, he assured them that they would continue to make the products of MTN attractive to their customers, throughout the years.

The regional Chief Imam, Abdul Sheikh Abdul Mumin Harun, thanked the organization for the kind gesture. He used the encounter to call on the two
parities involved in the election petition hearing pending before the Supreme Court to educate their supporters to conduct them well after the final verdict.

This he believed is the best way to sustain the prevailing peace and also to strengthen the country’s democratic system.

Meanwhile Mr. Serame Taukobong, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of MTN South Africa, has been appointed as the new CEO of MTN Ghana, as Michael Ikpoki has been promoted to take the role as the new CEO of MTN Nigeria.

The appointment of Mr.Taukobong formed part of MTN’s talent management and leadership development which aims at investing significantly towards building a sustainable supply of quality leaders.

The new Chief Executive is touted as talented personnel with vast experience in marketing and sales operations.

He was appointed as a Group Marketing and Sales Executive for MTN International in 2002, after moving from M-Net Channels, where he was Marketing Director.

Two years after joining MTN, he became the Chief Operations Officer at MTN Uganda.

In 2006, he assumed the role of Sales and Distribution Executive at MTN Irancell, where, among his achievements, he established a distribution footprint of over 7000 points of presence. He returned to MTN Group as Executive for Global Brand and Sponsorships in 2007.

He became the CMO of MTN S.A in 2009, responsible for revenue generation, product innovation, customer development, retention management, company strategic development, company-wide business development, over all brand communication, sponsorship and PR and strategic revenue development.

In 2011, he was voted by Sunday Times Marketer of the Year.

Mr.Taukobong was the brains behind the famous Ayoba campaign, which hadwon numerous awards in South Africa and globally.

Michael Ikpoki replaces Brett Goschen, who took on the role of Group Chief Financial Officer and Executive Financial Director on the Board.

Ikpoki was appointed CEO of MTN Ghana in April 2011 after successfully running MTN Nigeria’s Sales and Distribution channel as its Executive from 2006.
