From Alhaji Bashiru Zakari-Kumasi
The Asafo branch of the Church of Pentecost in Kumasi, has commissioned a 2,000 seater capacity storey church building at the cost of GH¢1,597,348.00 last Sunday.
The building which includes a toilet and urinal for both male and female and a spacious car park was named after Pastor M.K. Yeboah, who was the 2nd Chairman of the Pentecost church worldwide.
Speaking to this paper at the commissioning ceremony, Elder Kwaku Amankwah, disclosed that the vision was conceived and initiated under the leadership of Apostle S.K. Ofosu (RTD) the then district pastor of the Kumasi Central Branch.
He said, this became necessary in the quest to bring the church closer to the Asafo community and its environs and so the church from 1988-1996 battled with perennial accommodation problems for a suitable place of worship.
The assembly he said, was, therefore, migrated on August 14, 1998 by Apostle S.K. Ofosu at the Asafo Zion School with 68 members with Pastor J.O Amaniapong as the Presiding Elder.
He disclosed that, by the grace of God, the Assembly has multiplied its members to over 19 assemblies stretching from Adiebeba to Bedaase with Asafo Assembly as the district.
On his part, Pastor Jerry Paul Adzah said, all Praise, Honor, Majesty and Glory are the Lord for the 25 years existance of Asafo Assembly.
Against all odds, he said, the vision of the founding fathers has come to fruition, adding that, they have every cause as they celebrate this great faithfulnes & sustenance.
He said, as a body of Christ, they must not be complacent in the size and breadth of the building, but rather on a more serious note avail themselves to bring others to one member one soul concept to win others for Christ.
