One of the party stalwarts of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) who is jostling for the position of General Secretary, Mr Kwabena Adjei Agyapong has denied the wild allegations being circulated by his detractors in the NPP race that he (Kwabena) is an arrogant and not well cut out for the job.
Mr Agyapong onetime Press Secretary to ex-President John Agyekum Kufuor made this denial in a question posed by a reporter at a press conference to officially declare his intension to contest the General Secretary slot of the party in Accra.
“I have worked for the late Adu Boahen, worked for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the failed presidential candidate in the 2012 general elections, and worked for ex-President Kufuor as well Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyeremateng all leaders of the Danquah-Busia tradition of the party ’’ he said.
He said his loyalty to the party is unquestionable and unique for the job because he knows the party inside out.
Notable among the heavy weights who graced the launch of the sober looking engineer by profession and one time presidential aspirant are Nana Ohene Ntow, former General Secretary of party, Mr Kwadwo Afari, also a former Deputy General Secretary.
Mr Kwabena Adjei Agyapong is the race with Mr Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, a lawyer by profession and a former Director of Communication for the party, Captain(Rtd) Nkrabea Effah-Dartey also lawyer by profession and a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Berekum Constituency in the Brong Ahafo.
The rest are Mr Stephen Balado Manu former MP for Alhafo Ano South Constituency and a student lawyer have busy campaigning to unseat rustic Mr Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie as incumbent General Secretary for the party.
