The American Cooperatives School, an early childhood development centre in Effiduase in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region, has held its 2019 Graduation Ceremony with a call on parents to pay their wards school fees at the right time and to avoid influencing children with corrupt practices to enhance teaching and learning.
The graduation ceremony conducted at the school premises was on the theme “Education is the key to success”, was held for 238 graduating pupils in kindergarten two and Grade six into new level they are about to enter in September.
The school established 14 years ago, has become a leader in partnering parents and stakeholders institutions to offer quality early childhood development education in the community and beyond.
The headmaster of the school, Acheampong Sereboe Edward, in his report, told the graduands that the new level on the ladder of education comes with some responsibilities, that was hard work, commitment, time conscious and accuracy to duty.
He, therefore urged them to work extra hard in order to reach higher height “When you promise your children gifts such as toys, ice cream and money so as to get them to do their home work, perform household chores or go in errand it is bribery. “‘You are teaching them bribery and this is the beginning of the corruption”.
The headmaster, also urged parents to devoted time for their children since “Your toil was because of you children”, adding that the school could currently boast of a pupil population of 1400.
Mr Sereboe, commended the Executive Director of the school, Alex Amoako, for his innovative teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as the school management for the progress and quality of education it executed to provide for God’s protection and blessings for the graduands.
According to him, the school has chalked many successes in terms of Academic performance in which the school has recorded 100 percent in the BECE exams in six consecutive times and sports as well, pointing out that in spite of the successes chalked, the school has saddled with challenges such as, non-payment of school fees by the parents which affect effective teaching and learning.
He also said, the school continues to gain significant progress because of the effective collaboration with parents. He noted that the school would soon embark on expansion drive to offer more convenience for working parents. The colourful event entertained parents and invited guest with songs from the school choir, poetry recital, drama and choreography display.
