-Gabby Otchere-Darko’s Reveals; Hints Of Agenda 2020..
Nephew of President Akufo-Addo, has revealed what happens at Cabinet meetings, which ordinarily will not come into the public domain.
Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, said many of President Akufo-Addo Ministers during Cabinet meetings are caught fast asleep, while the 74-year old President, continues the day’s work deep into the night; sometime to 11pm.
He said, the appointees of the president, are usually unable to match his level of endurance and energy, making them give way to nature’s call, several times before cabinet sessions end.
He suggested should Akufo-Addo fail as President, the blame should go to his appointees, because at his prime age of 74, he is working too hard to achieve something for Ghana.
Gabby nicknamed “The Middleman” was painting a picture of a strong Akufo-Addo, who is fit enough to contest the December 2020, Presidential election at the age of 77.
If you ever doubted the strength of President Akufo-Addo, and even wondered, if he can carry on and even go for re-elections in two years, the answer according, Gabby Asare Otchere, is that he is able and willing to do so in 2020.
According to the very powerful man at the Presidency, President Akufo-Addo’s work rate at Cabinet meetings, is without blame, and hardly got time for any other thing, except two things, visiting the restroom and also eating his lunch.
“I mean he sits at Cabinet from 11 sometimes to 11pm and he may get up twice or once and maybe go to the restroom or have lunch, and some of his ministers are up in the bathroom and some may even sleep. I am just making a point and he [President] is alert so he works hard”.
Gabby, maintains the strength of the 74-year President is amazing; and he works too hard without getting tired.
Mr. Otchere Darko said this in an interview to Joy FM on the sidelines of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) annual delegates conference held last Saturday at Koforidua in the Eastern Region.
He went on saying although the President is over 20 years older than him, he is able to endure and stay intact during working hours than he Gabby, who is in his 50s can endure.
“If I have a fear, my fear is that, he works too hard in terms of his physical endurance; he has more than me I am over 20 years younger than him”.
For some time, many have argued President Akufo-Addo per his age may or may not contest for a second term as President but forfeit the idea for his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to replace him in the 2020 elections.
But Gabby, who is a very trusted confidante of Nana Akufo-Addo, has cleared every doubt, saying he will be on the presidential ballot paper come December 2020.
He emphatically told Elton John Brobbey that, there were a lot President Akufo-Addo wants to achieve which cannot be accomplished in four years.
Gabby said, it is “definitely” going to happen as far as he knows. “As far as I know, he is definitely ready for another term”, adding the President, is someone who wants to achieve a lot during his tenure and that pushes him to work harder for his country.
“What feeds the physical is also the conviction, …he feels that he has to achieve something and I think he paces himself in a way that can keep him going. In the sense that it is the work that keeps him going”.
He also disclosed that Nana Akufo-Addo’s presidency had been an ambition nursed since childhood, so he is enjoying being one finally, adding President Akufo-Addo, is having a time of his life especially at a time he is in the position to do the things he had always wanted to do as President.
Gabby, emphasized that the President’s joy does not stem from the perks that comes with the Office of the President but the fact that, he is the number one gentleman of the land and in a position to do something for the country.
With President Akufo-Addo, Gabby hoped that the President’s appointees would not disappoint him, while seeking to do more as President.
“ It’s not about the perks of the office but, the fact that he is enjoying being president… not the perks but the fact that he is in the position to do something that he always wanted to do, and I hope his appointees will not let him down”, he said.
