Advent Of Nana Addo, Jake And Sir John Have Poisoned NPP’s Atmosphere

Since the advent of the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Jake Obestesbi Lamptey and Kwawdo Owusu Afriyie alias Sir John’s era in the affairs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Executives and the entire party has been turned into one huge theater of comical absurdities, they are vying to outdo themselves in absurdities and baloney everyday.

Until last week, I was struggling to determine between Sir John, the General Secretary of the NPP and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, the party Chairman on who can say or do the ‘dumbest’ things.

These two personalities have taken away so much from our politics and the audacity with which they have declared their intentions to retain their positions amazes me. If Delegates who voted for them were asleep in 2010, I believe they are wide awake now and will not impose these expired products on Ghanaians again.

It was Plato who opined that “We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light”. The veil have finally been stripped off the faces of well-meaning members of the NPP and are now seeing the tragedy they have imposed on Ghanaians, in the characters of Sir John and Jake.

Sir John
The Sir of Junks is a leaking chamber pot, who in the words of Jake Obetsebi Lamptey was voted for to counter Asiedu Nketia, also known as General Mosquito, the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

General Mosquito, unlike Sir John combines both home sense with book sense; he does not open his proboscis at the least opportunity to make a mockery of himself.

Sir John has reduced the position of a General Secretary to a comedy fit for ‘Kumawood’ movie, unfortunately for him, his predecessors were men of substance, whose contributions to democracy and the NPP, will be well documented in the annals of this country’s history, whenever they spoke, they made sense and were taken serious, didn’t get people laughing, but for Sir John, I am wondering what legacy he leaves behind, because as it is now, his words means nothing.

Daniel Ohene Agyekum, Dan Kweku Botwe, Nana Ohene Ntow, these were men of many qualities, men whose voices transcended their party.

A failure always makes mockery of commonsense and the rules of engagement to remain relevant, that is why despite the fact that the Constitution of the NPP, said that Executives of the party, should not publicly declare support for their preferred candidate, yet the Sir of Junks broke the rules and declared for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who himself has been nothing since 2008, but a disaster of a politician. And to think that there is nobody in the party to call Sir John to order, really amazes me and beats my imagination.

Sir John, a drowning man hanging onto maggots infested wood, which is Nana Addo Dankwa to retain his position.
I will personally miss him, after the National Delegate congress, because in my mind’s eye, I don’t foresee Sir John, beating Kwabena Agyepong, as for Yaw Buaben Asamoah, he is a carbon copy of Sir John, he (Yaw), will be worse than Sir John.

If I was a leader in the NDC or I have a voice in the party, I will give everything for Sir John to retain his position.

I hope the NDC is not sitting on the fence waiting for Sir John to be beaten in March; they will have a tough battle with Kwabena Agyepong, as he is a level headed politician and could equally attract floating voters for his party.

On the other hand, if I was a Delegate of the NPP, I will not think twice to vote out Sir John.

On December 8, 2012, Sir John appointed himself Electoral Commissioner, and announced that NPP had won the election, he went ahead to ask his party members to wear all white to Church the next day.

He was the principal architect why the NPP wasted eight months of our time in the Supreme Court, challenging the legitimacy of President John Dramani Mahama. Is this man worth keeping?

Jake Obetesbi Lamptey
He was referred to as the Strategist; he claimed to have won both the 2000 and 2004 elections for President, John Agyekum Kufuor, when he was his campaign Manager, a claim President Kufuor has strongly refuted.

The opportunity came for him in 2012 to redeem himself, after he was elected party Chairman, but he could not prove President Kufuor wrong, the party suffered the most humiliating defeat in its history, as it took President John Mahama and the NDC, just three months to defeat Nana Addo, who has traversed every corner of this country. It is now obvious that he did not win any elections for anybody.

He has also done the unthinkable by declaring for Sir John, two interesting characters leading the biggest opposition party in the country, engaged in a circus that pleases just the two of them.

I perfectly agree with Kennedy Agyepong, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, when he said, should the party make a mistake of retaining both Sir John and Jake, he will resign from the party and form his political party.

Jake is being accused of misappropriating party funds. It is even rumored that he went to the United Kingdom to ask for Nana Addo’s blessings, but he was told by Nana to get lost. Nana has blamed him for causing his defeat.

The question I asked myself when I heard this was, na who cause am, is Nana Addo himself any better.
